James Lucas Scott saved his grandfathers soul. Jamie brought out the very best in Dan, showing that even a man who murdered his own brother still had light under all the darkness. Through his love for his grandson, Dan slowly but surely changed into a better man from season 5 until his final episode in season 9. In the process he learned to be human again, to truly love someone in his son Nathan, his daughter in law Haley (who really became like a daughter to Dan), and the rest of his extended family and their friends. It all started with Jamie, it was this unconditional, pure, and unselfish love that set Dan on the right path. I was (still am) a fan of OTH, and this relationship never gets enough respect, but it is one of the CORE PILLARS of the show in the later seasons and a big part of Dan’s eventual redemption. While I was extremely sad to see Dan die, I was infinitely happy that he had finally won back a piece of his family’s love in death. I am sure Haley and Nathan will remember the good man inside Dan since they got to experience and see all of his many qualities, both the good and the bad. I’m also sure that their feelings about him, while conflicted, will ultimately have love mixed in with sadness and hate for what happened to Keith. Nathan in particular always wanted to believe in his father’s goodness. I’m glad he finally got to see it and have closure before Dan passed. Haley also will have love and gratitude for her father in law for what Dan sacrificed to save the two men most important to her in life. As for Jamie, his grandfather is always going to be his hero, and that is a title that Dan earned. Bravo to this great video and song choice, fits like a glove.
Yes the river court scene is definitely a tear jerker!! So many moments on this show make me laugh & cry! So much heart & soul in it & it makes you want to get involved with all the characters!
This is so cute and very touching! I wish we could've too but at least Dan righted his wrongs before he died and we did get some great father/son moments in the later seasons of the show! Who sings this song? I should know but I can't remember!
