I tried this and it tasted really good. Just like the Starbucks one. I felt better about drinking it too because it was a lot healthier. Would recommend.
Tried this myself and invested in a handy little milk frother from Target for $6 using soymilk and it worked GREAT! I used plain coffee in a French press (dark roast) and made sure it sat for a good amount of time, honestly does the trick for the mocha taste and now my boyfriend begs me to make this every morning!!!!! Awesome awesome recipe!!!!
Thank you so much!! I tried it and it tasted just like Starbucks' mocha, and less sweet, which is just perfect for me. Mocha is my fave drink in Starbucks, but I haven't been to Starbucks for more than a year because of the pandemic, so this recipe helps a lot 🥰 Thanks again!
I’m not even kidding when I say this taste literally exactly like the Starbucks mocha. Thank you so much for this recipe. I think I could my go to drink during the day ❤️❤️
My nearly perfect Mock Café Mocha In a 2 c. microwaveable measuring cup, combine: 1 cup unsweetened almond milk 1 heaping teaspoon instant coffee (I use decalf but powered espresso would be better) 1/2 teaspoon Hershey's Dark chocolate cocoa powder 1/2 teaspoon Ghirardelli !00% Dutch-Process cocoa (I got it at Wal-Mart) 1 Tablespoon powdered Stevia or Truvia Heat in a microwave (3 min in a low powered microwave) Stir/vigorously beat with a small wisk to combine and create some froth Add whipped cream if desired & enjoy
I just bought the bottled mocha frappuchino yesterday, I got tired of buying it every grocery trip so I made this, tastes just like it, if not better, I definitely recommend.
@@DanaDeStefano I just made it and not only it’s fast to make, but I also didn’t need a microwave or a coffee machine. It tastes just like Starbucks coffee except it is more caffeinated. Thank you again for the video!
Maybe not an EXACT dupe, but I love using sweetened condensed milk as "white mocha", so for a tuxedo mocha I'd use half the amount of chocolate and sub sweetened condensed milk for the other half! Of course there's Torani and other brands that make white mocha sauces if you prefer that!
You COULD use half as half-and-half (lactose free if intolerant) and use either Lakanto Golden or Bocha Sweet to sweeten it and if you wanted, instead of that extra spoon of cocoa, grate a little dark chocolate, this could make it sugar free and low carb in general for those who may be curious and follow everything else exactly as Ms. deStephano showed here.
Yesss that would work so well!! On Christmas I tried melting a Ghirardelli square into my espresso, and using real chocolate like that was a game changer! Such a rich flavor and smooth texture!
I meant to say "half as much dairy in half-and-half" tablet and phone typing sucks when you're used to typing much faster on a keyboard, good old mechanical keyboards.
@@DanaDeStefano I do the same thing, but I make a dark chocolate peppermint mocha, I have a french press concentrate that's pepperminty that I use for it.
I'm gonna try this at home using a GSI outdoor espresso maker and microwaved half and half that I run a immersion blender in. Not sure what I'll use for chocolate. Maybe some swiss miss and unsweetened hershey's cocoa powder mixed together. Wish me luck.
okay, I LOVE this combination of Hershey's Cocoa and a small shot of Espresso. It genuinely tastes like a Starbucks Mocha. I LOVE IT. See you in the summer, StarB!😁 Try making it, I'm sure you're gonna love it.
Hey thanks for sharing I've tried to make this with chocolate syrup but it didn't have that "TASTE" now I know why it's the cocoa I need and what I'm guessing what gives it that unique "TASTE" cheers!
That’s great because I want to get a job one day when I am older and after I graduate from high school and work at Starbucks one day when I am 42 years old.
@@DanaDeStefano We are! 😁 I hope you and Gerald are healthy and safe too! Also Happy 1st wedding anniversary to you both. I meant to text you happy anniversary the other day but I forgot.
Bonus tip from an ex-barista: I don’t know if this is true everywhere, but where I live you can buy the Starbucks flavor syrups from Starbucks too, so if you like a peppermint mocha you can buy their peppermint syrup to have at home! That’s what I do :)
Yes!! The Starbucks I used to work at was super busy, so a lot of the time we had to turn people down when they'd ask to buy syrups so we'd have enough, but definitely worth it to ask! Starbucks inside Target is a good bet as well!
So the Starbucks mocha sauce is a combination of cocoa powder, sugar, & water? I had just assumed Starbucks had all those containers w/ pumps along the counter & that they started Mochas by pumping in syrup. Interesting
The syrups in the pumps are made from a powder mix! We add in the water, mix it up real good, and then put it into the containers with the pumps to use through the day!
I have never seen a cup of brewed coffee having more caffeine than a shot of espresso. Consumer reports says that there are 63mg of caffeine to 12-16mg in brewed coffee. That is per ounce. Saw another saying there is 4 times the amount of caffeine in an ounce of espresso compared to brewed.
Yes!! If you're using instant coffee, use less water than you normally would to make it more concentrated. Same with grounds, you'll want to use less water or brew it longer to make it extra strong so it'll hold up against the milk and chocolate. Hope this helps!!
Loved this video so much! Thank you for this I will be getting some co coa lol. Oh I do have a question which cocoa is okay because I have bought cocoa before and it made no sugar in it. That is the correct one right?
I've been using powdered cocoa in my coffee for DECADES and always with a dollop of whipped cream. I call it my poor man's Starbucks;) Now, I use the sugar-free because I have to watch my sugar intake :/
A shot of expresso has 63 mg of caffeine. An 8 oz cup of coffee averages about 112 mg of caffeine. Those would each be considered one serving, so the coffee actually has almost twice the amount per serving.
Who drinks 8 oz of espresso at a time? Edited to add: I’m not trying to start an argument here. I just think that she meant that espresso has less caffeine per serving, which is true. People tend to think they’re going to wired off of a grande latte, but with only two shots of espresso, it’s not any stronger than an 8oz cup of coffee.
Ounce for ounce yes, but typically we drink far less espresso in one serving than a full cup of coffee. A latte that contains two shots of espresso has far less caffeine than something like a caffe misto made with brewed coffee.
I tried this and it tasted really good. Just like the Starbucks one. I felt better about drinking it too because it was a lot healthier. Would recommend.

Try just simply adding ice, if that isn't good enough, I'd go for lukewarm, I'd say experiment!
Yes the water should be warm, after that add some cubes of ice and pour the cold milk
