Thanks for the review . Your right on. This printer is a little tricky setting up with no physical booklet and I'm pretty savy at these things. I just wanted something to print from my phone or laptop wireless.
I totally agree about the documentation -- it's a major flaw. HP could and should take a leaf from the Apple playbook and assemble a package that anyone can unbox, fiddle with for a moment then start using confidently. I got this printer hooked up via wi-fi - on the fourth or fifth try, and I'm still wondering how I did it. I did accidentally find out how to set duplex printing as a default (look in the prefs) and I probably would have found the toner cartridge, but thanks for showing me. But I know that figuring out the submenus under those little buttons is going to take an age. Cheaping on documentation is a poor economy for the company and an insult to the purchaser that HP should be above. In addition, leaving the user to figure out the features of the device and its attendant software probably deprives many of functionality that they would use if they realized it was there, which of course will reduce their positive word-of-mouth.
I HAD TO CALL HP. LO AND BEHOLD I FOUND OUT THAT THIS PRINTER NEEDS TO BE SET UP THROUGH A COMPUTER. IT'S A BREEZE WHEN DONE THAT WAY. BUT I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HP PRINTER AGAIN. AFTER WEEKS OF TRYING TO GET IT ONLINE AND TO PRINT FROM THE FRONT PANEL, IT JUST WASN'T HAPPENING. THEN I REMEMBERED; I REMEMBERED AHA! YOU NEED TO USE A COMPUTER. I'M 67 SO MY MEMORY ISN'T AS GOOD AS IT USED TO BE.
OMB, this was so much better than help at HP. Thanks. What is the paper feed at the top for? I am writing to the CEO directly to complain about the service.
Hi, I am looking for a new laser printer for home use. I don't want a colour printer. Just a laser printer that can also do some scanning that doesn't jam so easily. Also economical to use and doesn't take up a lot of space. Current printer that I have at the moment is Brother HL-2010. My printing habits are like feast and famine. I don't print for a long time and then print a lot. The HP Laserjet Pro M148fdw seems like a good option. What would you recommend?
Wish I'd seen your review before I bought mine. So difficult to get it set up and now I can't find any instructions about how to do anything with it. The screen is useless and the menus that pop up don't help me understand anything about what's going on. I'm going to try and return it. Wondering if you could recommend a simple LaserJet that prints and copies double sided. Also scans. Could be black/white or colour. Wireless. Simple instructions included. Is that too much to ask??? Really appreciate your wisdom on this.
Hello, I can't seem to solve the alignment issues with the printer; everything works great except for the alignment. What is your X1, X2 and Y settings? I already tried different settings I still can't seem to align the lines. Need help :(
so not a color laserjet? Help - looking for a home use laserjet color all in one printer Not necessarily HP. tired of my inkjet ink drying out in my printer and having to constantly unclog it.
Absolutely the worst product ever brought into my house, never ever could keep the wireless working. Just took it and extra toners and launched it into the trash, truck just left, thank God. No more HP for me.
WPS is the only option for connecting to wifi. I could not find scan network or anything like that on this printer.

I just reviewed the Neverstop printer - That might be of interest: th-cam.com/video/SxGOLj7Ujlc/w-d-xo.html
@@geekazine Thank you. That one looks like a good option too and now leaning towards the neverstop printer.
Do you know if its compatible with 802.11ac networks?

I haven't tested too many laser printers outside HP.
Does it have the scan to network path feature and does the document feeder do double sided scanning?
It should.
No according to the HP specs page.
YES, IT CAN PRINT ON BOTH SIDES. I'LL HAVE TO POST A VIDEO WHEN I GET MINE RE-SETUP.🙂
Can we use special paper on the printer
Depends on the paper.
@@geekazine Can I use Cardstock on this printer?
Thanks for the review, by the way, how is the scanner and fax functionality ? The toner appears to reasonable...
I don't know. I do not have this printer anymore. It was a loaner.
How do you find a replacement cartridge for HP 148w?
Hello I have recently ran out of toner so does anyone know where to buy toner
How do I get my printers blue tooth assword?
I like your video :) Does the printer need a computer to set up? As i only have a samsung tablet and phone. I'm awful with technology 🤯🙈😭😂
YES, A TECHNICIAN WALKED ME THROUGH IT AND 10 MINUTES LATER IT WAS SET UP.

But you have to do the double sided manually?! It’s not automatic!!!?
I don't remember, and I had to send the printer back.
Its automatic double side as you set your printer settings
Jim Moca thank you bro
@@jimmoca2182 oh nice. sounds like you know this firsthand from experience? scanning both sides does sound possible from what I've read so far
Does not serve to print any notarized document in color would the document not be valid?
You should ask a Notary if a copy is valid. Otherwise, it's a copy.
Good comprehensive review!
#Thanks.
So what inexpensive printer do you recommend
That's a #goodquestion - What do you want to do with it? Print, scan, fax, copy, ?? #Thanks
and what is your budget? this printer when it was $149 was a really good deal (it is $199 in 2021)
Does it do multi page scan through the top feeder to a PDF file?
yes
How you set it up? Cause I click scan and it scans thru the fixed one by one place
GOOD !
Im having trouble printing envelopes from Windows 10 , Word any suggestions?
HP would be the best way to find answers.
THE NEXT PRINTER I GET WILL BE AN EPSON. YOU CAN BASICALLY JUST PLUG IT IN AND IT SETS ITSELF UP. NEVER WILL I BUT ANOTHER HP PRINTER.
Air print?
yes. Through the app
I need a printer that does all this, it’s fast and good quality. Any recommendations?
How about this one?
Can you please help me I’m trying to change the language to English mine is in Arabic I think
What is the color version of this?
There is no color version of this.
So. No "scan to email" button or anything useful like that? In no way do I want to drag my phone around just to do basics.
It's a basic printer. I'll let them know your comment. #Thanks for letting me know.
Grateful for this review. We'll try the laser as a result, with its promise of trouble- free black & white. debatsea
Glad to help. #Thankyou for the reply

Welcome! #Thanks for posting!
Skan - PDF ?
I can't get the machine to scan, you didn't really cover how to set up scanner
It's done through apps, depending on where you want the scan to go.

Fax? It has to at least 10 years since the last fax was sent in this world. Remove the useless fax!!
There are many that still connect to old legacy devices. Machines that can't just get upgraded, and phone lines that need to still stay in play.
my thoughts initially and realized there is a sizable population that still prefers fax - elderly and so I hear in Japan of all places!
