this is mccartney satarizing his "oh darling" vocals to the hilt. all the solo beatles recorded some great songs but mccartney, generally speaking, released the best and most entertaining albums. and "ram" was his best. thanks for the reaction.

I think it's safe to say , we just heard the greatest vocalist in rock history here. Would this have cut it as a beatles song ???? John & Yoko would have quashed it . John was very devastated by this LP. I was given this LP for my 7th Birthday by my Old Man . I played it about 500 times in first month . These songs burned into my core .

I absolutely LOVE "Monkberry Moon Delight"! Very sonically full. Paul McCartney never sang this live! Too complicated.

he probably just didn't want to blow out his voice. This one had to be rough

No one knows what this song means, but I think Paul himself sums it up sotto voce near the end with "Suck It".

The magic of McCartney that has not happened in the last 40 years since then. Don't think he ever sang this live for the reasons you described but this is the last of McCartney being super creative. The stuff is classic classic classic. Anyway, keep up the great work!

Well I think creativity is very subjective. I'm sure if we were to ask him now he probably still feels highly creative. I think he had moments here and there of brilliance after this but this is probably his last complete work on this level. There's still a lot I need to look through though. Any suggestions?

@@maybeimamazedtribute All astute insights. You know I pretty much like all that early '70s McCartney whether it's called Wings or whatever. I do think band on the run is overrated as an album. The song is masterpiece for sure. I loved tug of war though it started getting very middle-age-y. As did flowers in the dirt. But still some good stuff on there. Flowers co written with Elvis Costello ..You may know that.

I haven’t listened in a while but when it came out I was really into Driving Rain. Could we consider that guilty pleasure? 🤷🏻‍♂️
Maybe we wouldn’t be so critical if he wasn’t who he is but then again maybe we wouldn’t be listening to albums like flowers in the dirt if he wasn’t him. Btw I’ve never really listened to flowers in the dirt. Maybe I’ll try that next? The 80s stuff gets kind of hard to listen to but I can be open minded. 🤔

Also, the only track I know of that he did with Elvis is “Veronica”. What else is there? Educate me

Paul has super creative moments on every album and era of his career. Moments that are just as creative as this song and album. Chaos and Creation as a whole is great, Memory Almost Full has many creative and fun moments like Mr Bellamy, and then there’s also Electric Arguments which shows him getting very creative and experimental. I don’t think you’ve really listened to his career or given it a proper chance if you think he stopped being super creative after this album, although it is his best album. There’s also the song 222 from the Memory Almost Full sessions which I think is one of the most creative and cool things a Beatle ever did and that includes the Beatles career. Deep Deep Feeling from M3 is also a very creative song and a new direction for him.

I don't understand this way of singing with break voice all the time, perhaps is a demonstration of the variety of register to sing. At this time McCartney was very angry with situations with the rest of Beatles, especially Lennon.
