A bull elk bugles at dawn, then intimidates his rivals by tearing up sagebrush with his massive antlers. All the while keeping an eye on nearby cows in his harem. Watch in HD.

His antlers are longer than his body, and as he tears up the sod to show off his strength and energy the female walks by not even noticing heheheh. She's got stuff to do.
I wonder was this elk bugling in the spring? My experience listening to elk is in Pennsylvania where they bugle in the fall and birds are not singing. When I heard birdsong on the soundtrack I wondered if it was added. The reason is: The birds singing in the background are warblers that arrive in early May, sing in May and early June, but stop singing in July.
Literally me, i was camping on the side of the road in jasper Alberta and was woke up by a huge Male bugling outside my van. He was calling all night our there and it took me awhile to realize that sound was a lifeform, and not the nearby train tracks squealing. Was awesome
Dead ass I was camping in Utah and heard this noise, thought it was some kinda bird and went to sleep. My girlfriend was like that's too loud to be a bird. 9 months later I find out on TH-cam that's what an elk sounds like 🤣

If I told you there's a large animal with a set of long forking spines that makes chilling screechy loud sounds you would think I have been on an alien planet.
Wow. I'm doing a hunter ed course and pulled this up to hear what an elk bugle sounds like. I don't know if I could bring myself to shooting such a majestic animal...
My dad was the same. He hunts and mainly hunts southeastern whitetail, wanted to hunt elk where I live now. But he doesn't want to hunt them lol. I recorded an elk stag bugle for him and he was like "I just wanna see that in person don't wanna shoot him. Beautiful."
@@mary5292 You must understand hunting isn't just going out and killing, it's getting a chance to observe an animal in ways most don't get to. It's getting a full appreciation of the animal, and it's ecosystem. Which us, the hunters, are an important part of. BOOM!!!
Hi there! My brother was wondering if he could get a hold of you to ask about using this video for their school promotion stuff. They are the Elks, so he wanted a really cool looking elk to finish out the video. Thanks!
God dammit Illinois only has deer, coyotes, and other small game! We used to have a wide variety like bear, wolves, cougars, elk, and the majestic American bison. But we just reintroduced bison into our state, we are considering elk populations, and cougars are migrating here!
I would be epic to ride these in battle. Just think about it. The enemy is taking over the battlefield then in the distance they here an elk bugle and see a pack of warriors riding on massive elks with their swords in hand ready to slay the enemy.
Great footage but the framing was a little off :( Nonetheless, the colors and the focal length are great in this clip (you must've used quite a nice lens for that I reckon?) And WHERE was this shot??
One of the coolest sounds you'll ever hear. It embodies the spirit of the forest.
I'm trying to understand why anyone would dislike this footage.
PTSD from elk experiences
Ben I doubt 88 people have suffered traumatic experiences with these amazing animals
Hunters. They hate live animals.
@@lehareelamoralcosmos4196 that is one of the most incorrect statements I've ever seen.
Le haré el amor al cosmos You couldn't be more wrong. Hunters love animals, I should know because I know plenty of people who hunt.
I can almost feel the cool crisp air
Cool? Crisp? Bro my testicles have turned into icicles.
I live in Montana. Listening to these sounds right now coming from off in the distance in the darkness. Kinda creepy.
That's not an elk. It's a crazy clown.
Creepy, yet Majestic.
It's probably a wendigo..
How's Montana for ya?
why creepy? the voice of the wild ones. spend time with them and your fear will go away
this is so beautiful holy crap

And with a rebel yell, he cried, MeRRrrrRRr!
MeeeeRRRrrr.. MeeeeRRrrrr...
in the midnight hour, she cried more, more, more, more more more more!

It’s scary at 3:00am in a tent for the first time camping not to mention hearing that at that time and never hearing a elk before
Wonderful footage and man that sound is just beautiful

Ain’t nothin better than this on a nice and cool Saturday morning up in Utah, Flagstaff, or Alaska.
I lived in Flagstaff for 20 years. I miss hearing them during the winter.
@@GamerNerdess I’ll bet
This sound so similar to the Fujara, a Slovakian instrument. Its essentially doing the same thing, truly amazing.
That elk got pipes
I’m going to see them in my local state park this weekend I’m super excited

KateStJohn Birdblog what if your wrong?
vansurfing she is completely correct. but maybe this was a chance encounter. most likely a birdsong was added in the background of the video
Is that all you can see and hear? Wow, how sad for you...
Simply incredible captures... that was amazing!

Antlers. Horns don't fall off and are made differently. Also, only way to keep them on the planet is to hunt them properly so no overpopulation.
Unreal that these creatures exist.
As an Oregonian I like hunting fishing muddling and building on cars but when I call when hunting all i here after that......EEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHH
the first call sounds like an epileptic electric guitar
