    You could use a dimmer switch like what is used to dim the lights in your house or adjust the speed of a ceiling fan. As a throttle.

    used these motors before . the bracket will bend out of enlinement. the sprocket is to big, to high geared, motor not big enough,battery to small. how do i know i have tried similiar. it will give a limited assist while pedalling for approx 10 min, check motor amp against battery

    I wonder what a good car starter and powerful car battery would do? Aren't they made to have high torque or something? Or spin at high rpm with a good amount of torque?

    You should have used the cheap charger that comes with those Ryobi's. You could have gutted out the charge circuitry, just leaving the contact points.....mount that to the bike, and you have a battery mount and an easy system to quick swap the batteries :)

    If the back tire is airpumped a bit more, you be better speed with less force!.

    was it because of the size of sprocket and torque you linked it directly to the back small sprocket?
    another thing, most if not all bike conversions ive seen never use the derailleur back gear is there a reason for that?

    connect the motor chain to the wheel not the freewheel
    and you can use the motor without taking your feet off the pedals

    Windshield wiper motors have been used for many applications.
    Usually when a reverse motor rotation is also needed.
    12VDC motors can be reversed by switching polarity.
    I am sure I would not want to drive the pedals on any electric bike .

    5:56 he welded the motor in place, also the motor will constantly spin the pedals way to fast, making it pretty dangerous.

    I got a Chinese e-moped a few years ago, it has a 1500w, 48v hub motor, and is powered by five 24ah 12v batteries providing 60v. It will do 35mph on the flat, & will maintain 28-30mph going up hills. I don't like it, because 1. in the UK it has to be tested for roadworthiness annually & insured, 2. I hate wearing a helmet. 3. it has tiny wheels, so handles badly & is all over the place when it hits potholes, and 4. I suffer range anxiety using it, & it doesn't have pedals, so when the power runs out you`re pushing an unwieldy moped all the way home! Because of these issues, I`ve barely used the thing..
    So, I`ve been looking for alternatives, including converting pushbikes, as I have a couple sitting around doing nothing, and having pedals means that it could help my fitness levels, & could easily get home if the batteries ran out..
    I also have lots of car parts in my garages, loads of motors of different types, so the idea of maybe using some in a project like this, does appeal to me!
    You have to experiment to find the best solution, and by this guy experimenting, trying different variations, it means we don't have to, so thanks for that!
    The wiper motor wasn't bad, maybe one (or even two) wiper motors on each wheel? 2x 18v 5ah batteries on each? or if you used 24v ones from a truck, powered by 2x 24v 6ah batteries, and if it worked, build some higher amp & volt battery packs?
    Just thinking out loud..

    If you were to chop off a bit of the frame around the rear tires, perhaps you could replace the tiny wheels with something with a larger diameter. I believe this, in turn, would give you a bit more speed also making it run a bit longer.

      more speed? supersonic? bicycle cranks run at about 80 rpm that motor runs at about 1200 rpm I think. 15 times faster than normal peddling.

    При таком раскладе надо ставить цепь на переднюю звезду(педаль) и через обгонную муфту. Иначе когда едешь педали всё крутяться. Вот вот и копыта всё время в раскоряку.

      anthony thomas , you’re a damn idiot if you think some of us are jealous of such shit ideas. None of the bikes had the power to climb a damn handicap curb. I wouldn’t even begin to use such trash to make an e-bike. What he was doing was as lame as getting in the junk drawer and grabbing a few AA batteries , tearing down the ceiling fan, stripping it’s weak motor and duct taping that shit to a bicycle frame and expecting it to be road worthy. What the hell? Most people can just LOOK at items and do the common sense physics. I guess you and this dude should pal around and hang out on the short bus. ....jealous.......😂😂😂😂smdh

    The end result looks like you welded the motor mount in and lengthened the wires cause initially it looked like they would pull loose if you made a right turn.. All you had to do was flip the battery around.. If you did this on the front unused sprocket, might have been more better in speed, etc.. And I personally would have went with a smaller sprocket on the motor cause workload kills the overall speed of the output, you get more top end yes, under no load conditions but this is where you have to pay some price.. and why I would have went to the front sprocket by pedals.. or added another to the pedals but that would have taken a little more crafting and modifications

      On some of these bike projects, it might be better to add the motor to the front wheel. That way the pedals and sprockets in the back can be left alone and will be useable if needed.

    I use industrial push buttons positioned behind secondary positioned brake levers. Not on the grip shift rendering it useless. Still wondering the motor rating on this one.

    My thoughts are why use the peddles at all ? I mean why add a motor that's just in the way , why not mount it where the peddles are and use the rear derailer as intended, put some foot pegs somewhere else . Just seems to make more sense to me .

    Putting the motor on the front wheel would make more sense. Harder to do but would work much better.

    Take The Rear Wheel from A Donor Bike & Put it up Front.. Connect The Motor to The Front Wheel.. You Will get More Speed and Power with The Motors and Batteries You're Using... Pulling uses Less Force Than Pushing... And Your Pedals Won't Spin by Using The Original Sprocket Assembly... Or You could Steal A Large Sprocket and Mount it to The Left Side of The Rear Wheel and reverse The Polarity of The Battery Input.. And The Pedals Wont Spin. Pretty Cool Video Though... Very Creative.. On A Budget..lol.

      Lo mataron al vato por sacar tan brillante idea el motor de e de ser desde los doce voltios o hasta 36 voltios si se fija le hace falta fuerza con carga con el marrano arriba sufre mucho el motor y sin el marrano arremanga en motor

    Put the charging unit from the drill back in the circuit and as you pedal the motor without power to it it will produce electricity to charge the battery and it's not a full power electric bike it's a power assist for climbing hills .
