A lot of this jazz fusion transferred over in the 80s to all over asia influencing a lot of the local music where you can hear so much of the pop still has so much jazzy rythms today.

    Casiopea - self-titled album (1979)
    Hiroshi Suzuki - Cat (1976)
Terumasa Hino - Hip Seagull (1978)
Jiro Inagaki & His Soul Media - Head Rock (1970)

what about Casiopea Mint Jams and Thunder Live?
I see a lot of people on you tube with a Jazz Fusion list, but no one in the list has casiopea, don't you think it's strange, because this is THE band in Japan and Asia, they are so popular, I've seen them three times, I'm drummer, but want to quit drumming when i see Akira Jimbo, pffff what a drummer

Hi, thanks for sharing these with us. I already knew a couple of the releases but most are new to me. I`m definitely gonna check them all out. The Silk Road - Rock Joint Cither album sounded really good. It reminded me of a more funky Alice Coltrane Journey Into Satchidanda.
I`d recommend you give the japanese artist Minoru Muraoka`s album Bamboo a listen. He was a flute player that was influenced by Jazz and Funk and his album Bamboo features an excellent cover version of the track Take Five. Other tracks on Bamboo such as The Positive And The Negative, and Nogamigawa are very Jazz influenced. Original copies are quite expensive but in 2019 the label Mr Bongo re-issued it on both vinyl and cd.
    Cheers.

Nice, thanks very good music, even better than ocidental.
I don't know if you like whiskey, Japanese Nikka Blended is one of my favourites, marvelously fine tuned.
In the case of vinyl, i can find only by listening, if the vinyl was made from CD, and if I suspect, I confirm with the CD, if they sound the same... it's a shame: money thrown away.
It was the case with a reissue of Fleetwood Mac's first, and Rodrigues, which I pay 25 € and sounds exactly like the CD made from flac download.
Analogue vinyl must give more of every aspect of hi-fi, dynamics, resolution, etc, from the first needle hit.

I agree! Plus...I am a big whiskey fan! I am actually a sommelier. Yes, Japanese whiskey is truly outstanding. Also that Nikka you are talking about, I almost always have a bottle at home. I usually like single Scotch malt, but this blend is outstanding I agree!

Gonna watch now but first wanna name the ones I love in that scene : Casiopea and T-Square, then Mr. Hino(great experimental stuff) and also Mr. Takanawa (is album An Insatiable High is superb)
That was the more fusioney branch but if we're just talking straight funk, then there's a metric ton of good stuff, as all of Japan's pop in the whole '80s was very solid and smooth funk. Gotta give a shoutout to my boy Tasturo Yamashita, also Takako Mamyia's album Love Trip is a must. Just searching the term ''City Pop'' here on youtube, and one is sure to be inundated by good J-Funk. My favourite City Pop DJ on youtube is Van Paugam(now goes by name ROKER). his compilations are hyper- tight, he owns so much J-Funk on vinyl and filters it all for us to give us the cream of the crop. His channel is mandatory stop for J-Funk begginers, not that many video either so it doesn't take too long to go through.

@@anadialog No problem! what's in my second paragraph is more Funk-pop. but in the first is fusion. Casiopea and T-Square have more of that fast raucous fusion sound, albeit Casiopea is catchier (but their first LP is more lively). Both would be featured regularly on racing broadcasts in their country. T-Square even provided music for racing videogame series Gran Turismo. And the album I mentionned by Takanaka is stacked with american studio players featurings, notably that famous horn section which name I forget, and the funk keyboard goddess herself, Patrice Rushen. Some other big names too.
The first Casiopea record is a desert island pick for me.

    • @anadialog
      @anadialog 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

TH-camrs say they CAN'T put any music for copyright issues. In 99% of cases that is not true, simply you do not monetize that video. I just don't care but a lot of my colleagues just won't put a video out for free! This is what happens, you put a song, even just a few seconds, and TH-cam will immediately signal this. As I said in 99% of cases simply the author or label will get the income. In some rare cases some artist have decided not to let their music around, and therefore those artists and their music will lead to the complete block of your video. Happened only once to me!

As explained in several comments it would have been a little too obvious to put Casiopea. I have two their albums and I love them but this isn't a Best of list, but just 10 choices out of the beaten root or close to that.

Let me recommend to you and to your followers one of the best rock-prog Japanese albums of this last 2 years, DeLorians by DeLorians. It is their only album released in 2019 by Beyond Beyond is Beyond Records. The artistic quality of music is 10+, the quality of the recording, unfortunately, is not top-notch, is average, but the music is excellent.

In any case I agree, I love them too.

Very cool, man. I’ve gotta admit that I’m pretty unfamiliar with this genre, but I really dig it.
Doesn’t hurt that I’m a total sucker for obi strips.
Hope you get over that cold soon. Be well, stay safe, and thanks so much.
