Best Caitlin Clark story - The day that her Iowa Coach, Lisa Bluder, learned that Caitlin was the 2023 NCAA player of the year (her junior year), Caitlin was spending time at the Hawkeye - Stead Family Children's Hospital. They caught this on camera: When Coach Bluder found Clark and told her about her POY award, Clark was happy, but she was not over the moon - She was more moved by the kids she had been spending time with, who were fighting the biggest fights of all. You could see it in Clark's eyes. She was thankful for the award, but she had even more that she wanted to keep going for, to play for, to inspire those kids. . . People don't know this but she goes back to the hospital, is persally connected with a lot of kids fighting for their lives, has flown kids and given what she can. SHe will NEVER talk about herself doing this, and avoids cameras - some find her (I think at an Aces game was one), but THIS is who Caitlin Clark truly is. This is what we all recognize, what we all sense, in her character - and why we feel we must support her.

@destiny The video is on here. Both Bluder and Jensen were with her in Stead Family Univ. of Iowa Children's hospital. Caitlin is definitely one of the kids favorite athletes, but she's not the only one who visits the kids or brings them little gifts to help give them a smile when they aren't feeling good. Caitlin is a blessing wherever she goes.

Her heart is that of a champion. Perhaps every word has a couple of words, at least behind it. We'll, I believe that CC is kind and has class. One of the words behind these two qualities is discretion. CC'S discretion is amazing. She will never intentionally allow the public to see her good works.

What Clark did the first six months of the year will never be repeated by any athlete in the history of the world..what she did at Iowa to end her college career, followed by her exploits at the pro level with hardly no gap in between..doing so while being treated like an outsider by wnba in general and media in whole. Yes, she earned your award, Ms. Ross..and all the rest and whatever else pops up//

    • @destinypirate
      @destinypirate วันที่ผ่านมา +6

Tiger was a similar marvel, as was Kareem, to a degree Magic/Bird, as was Gretzky, Ali - likely a few others - who went from college (or HS) to the pros and dominated. However, none that I know of - with the exception of maybe Jackie Robinson - were caught up in such a social division firestorm. Add to this, none of those greats shouldered their entire sport from the back back pages to the front page of the culture. So yes, the combination of amateur to pro record breaking excellence while lifting an entire sport into the mainstream while also bearing crosses that shouldn't be forced upon an athletes - all with such grace and positive effect on millions of people.... It is difficult to imagine that such circumstances will ever be effected by one athlete - all within 1 calendar year - ever again.

Indeed Adrienne, CC deserves the ARS award because of her character and class, and how she handled the pressure and the persecution she has experienced. Seemed like water off a duck. Incredibly impressive.

Adrienne, you make me wish that YOU could have come to play at Iowa! You are a Hawkeye at heart! - and this means MUCH more than winning in a school's name... This is about representing the Iowa Way - the work ethic, the support of community/youth, the corny sense of humor, the sharing mindset. As much as our wonderful Caitlin Clark represents this, to a T, so do you...and all of the fans who reflect these qualities. Clark's footprint on society is still growing. She is yet to be Iowa's greatest contemporary cultural contribution - for now that would be Dan Gable (read his unrivaled story - how he Saved wrestling - what he means to so many) and The Wave.
And yet, because the wave-effect from CC, through you and many others, has me believing that CC will do more positive things for more people than any athlete (or Iowan?) we have seen in our era.

This channel is a triple dose of excellence:
    1. Excellence in basketball/CC content
    2. Excellence in drawing out material for application in life
    3. Excellence in grammatical accuracy.
I feel as if I am in class for a motivational lecture, a coaching debriefing, and for an English course at thr same time.
I am certain I made a grammatical error somewhere. However, I just wanted to say I appreciate you correcting the errors in the various articles that you read. Firstly, it helps us to get an idea how horribly the journalism schools have been training the reporters in their writings. Secondly, it causes me to be more conscious about being as grammatically accurate as possible in my words, and in my writing.

She's phenomenal, generational, elite. Overcomer, she just has 'it' polarizing personality.

So glad you mentioned the off course behavior of her reporter activity and public appearance that is what A'ja Wilson ( Always crying )has not figured how to win the public love.

Nice one ! However I would add another one "Best Team Player". With C# It's We not I. As they say there is no I in TEAM.

Great award you give to her. CC shines a light on the other players in the league. Some of them show their good side and others unfortunately show their bad side for the new fans to see. They can't blame her for everything, they make their own beds. Her behavior should be an example to other people/players, her volunteering and helping visiting sick children are great things as well.

Thank you Adrienne for naming our Caitlin the "Adrienne Ross Athlete of the Year 2024". Thank you ALSO for calling IT what IT is, "The Caitlin Clark Effect". Caitlin will always be Caitlin by saying nice things when she has no reason to say nice things. She was born and raised in Iowa, raised by amazing parents, survived 2 brothers-just kidding, the brothers have survived her, lol-she was playing hoops with her brother Colin in their basement and they both went after a loose ball. She shoved him into the wall and he needed 4 staples in his head. She has spoken eloquently ever since she was interviewed in college. Never a bad word about anyone, and no matter who asked her or how many times she was asked about HER game, she would go through the names of every teammate and how much they contributed, specific plays or shots, it all came right off the tongue, she NEVER said anything about her own accomplishments until she had finished speaking about each of them. She has done the same thing with the Fever! She is not afraid to talk trash, but not until someone has said something to her first, something she feels deserves a response. In the Elite 8 against Louisville, 2023, in the 4th quarter, Hailey VanLith said something to her and we will probably never know what it was, but Caitlin's response was "Shut up, you're down by 15". End of conversation. Now I don't want to say she is a nun or a saint, she's not. I think it was against Mich. State in Feb. 2024, and the announcers said ahead of the game that we were going to get to see so much of Caitlin Clark that night because there were cameras ALL OVER the arena. They may have regretted that just a bit because during a time out or something, we got to see her walking towards the home basket, about mid-court, she had her towel with her and at the same moment, she bent over, slapped the court with the towel, and yelled FU*K!!! My husband and I absolutely roared, and watched it 2 more times. Later in the same game, she said it again only there was no audio or towel that time. We backed it up a couple of times just to make sure we were being accurate with our lip reading. We've learned it from football coaches over at least 30 years. Now they hide their mouths so you don't get to do that anymore, lol. We talk so much about her "logo 3's", but I believe it was that very same Michigan State game, there was no more than 5 seconds left and the score was tied. They were trying to get it inbounded to Caitlin, finally got it to Hannah Stuelke, and somehow she got it to Caitlin who was standing on the beak of the Tigerhawk at mid-court and drained the 3. The announcers called it "She shot it from THE BEAK"!!!! That was a 40' shot. In a later game, don't know which one right now, but from the other side of the court, they called it "from the feathers" of the Tigerhawk, another 40' shot. This is the best video you have made of her accomplishments. I was going to give you a bad time about a 3 time award she won that you didn't list, but it was because she didn't win it her senior year. She won the Dawn Staley award 3 times.

It has always been Caitlin Clark's dream to play in the WNBA, and that's the only reason that she is going to play in the League again this year 😃 so God Bless her 🙏, and maybe she will be ready once again for the ignorance of the black lesbians once again ❤.

A much deserved award for an extraordinary young a lady and athlete.
You could do raspberry awards for most toxic WNBA players, owners, and coaches as well as a special raspberry award for most ridiculous WNBA media coverage. But I think there will be so many positives coming out of Caitlyn on and off the court you won't have time to cover the nonsense.
