    I came across a guy on an app once who politely asked me what I’m looking for, and I told him I’m looking to meet new people and see if we vibe and find my person, and he said ok that’s cool but he’s looking to hook up so he’s not the one for me. And this was the most polite and understanding conversation and it ended very amicably, no feelings were hurt and no time wasted. Why can’t they all be like that? Just TELL me! That way you won’t waste either my time or yours.

    🦃 I left my ex husband the day after our 8th wedding anniversary. I limped out that door with a 13cm (6 inches) blood clot in my leg, a pseudomonous infection in my infusion port, a reconstructed elbow from a recent fall off a ladder, while bald and breastless during chemo at 33!!! I don’t ever leave comments but I have to for this!! I was engaged once and he was murdered 6 months before our wedding. YOU are not damaged goods. Nor did you ask for what happened. The right person will come along for you like the right one came along for me. I have been married for 20 years and have a beautiful family now. I buried two love of my lives first one was murdered second one never got the heart transplant he needed and yes he'd had it since he was a child and needed the heart transplant He didn't get to see 30. The third one ended up having a brain aneurysm which changed his personality he was a combat veteran active duty The only wound he ever received caused it but they didn't know it existed until it blew. Our engagement was immediately over His commanding officer felt so bad for both of us He was forced out of the military. My husband that I didn't marry until I was 27 and I felt so proud that I had not jumped the gun like all my other girlfriends and I've been careful and tried not to be on the rebound I lost him because we were in a car accident and he cracked the windshield with his head ended up losing his mind yes became violent lost his personality I had to leave or like the sheriff's department felt They would be finding me in a ditch dead somewhere or a guy felt one of us would accidentally kill the other in self-defense on my side and him is uncontrollable rage that he just couldn't figure out what was happening. By the time I was 30 I had been through so many people that I dearly loved that I felt I was cursed. The odd thing was I honestly ended up finding someone who had been in my life but he'd been married at the time and I had been attracted to but never let him No and even gave up my job so I wouldn't accidentally do something that could harm his world later on I ended up moving back into the area after my marriage fell apart and the rest is history his marriage had fallen apart just as I married that other person. We've been together 33 years. It hasn't been easy We both brought a lot of PTSD and baggage from what we've gone through but what is life without tribulations You don't advance and you don't learn anything I watched a girlfriend have that kind of life and her husband treats her like she's a child I don't want that kind of life never have had it and I'm grateful that I learned that life is short it's not permanent and you need to love as much as possible while you have it.

      Went through this with a 58 year old. Narcissists never change. I knew it was over as I lay bleeding internally for 4.5 hours in an ER which never would have happened had I called him-around here with certain hospitals, you MUST have an advocate just to make sure you have an advocate. They thought I was there as a "junkie" BC I was writhing in pain with a broken hip, recovering from the OTHER hip replacement AND broke my femur... ). Other hospital refused to give me my normal meds-NOT to mention pain meds, and I had a seizure as soon as I got home. My fiance's wife died at the usual place they take us. I would rather take my chances at home if I can't have someone take me elsewhere. For all Long Islanders in Suffolk County, stay away from Crookhav^% Hosp. PLUS, don't feel enb to call someone else to advocate for you. By the time they realized I was sent over b my doc (who did not bother to call ahead) they ran out of my blood type and had to send for more-4.5 HOURS! Bleeding internally! For a simple broken hip. 3 years later, you still can't touch that cigar-sized spot. No, you can't even sue. I was an attorney and contacted folks.

    after my marriage I was diagnosed with CPTSD, I have severe betrayal trauma and a lot of abandonment issues stemming from from my childhood and exacerbated by the romantic relationships I chose as a young adult. I’ve done a lot of really hard work but the trauma is there under the surface.
    My current partner is very serious and adamant in making it known that he sees me as perfect in who I am now, because I wouldn’t be me without everything I had been through. He holds space for me, supports me, loves me.

    As someone from Atlanta who has lived in 8 countries I can confirm that Atlanta is the absolute worst place to date and that story did not shock me one bit. I've got one to add. So I was living alone in the suburbs of Atlanta, and my downstairs neighbor would always greet me with a smile whenever we crossed paths. One day he asks me out and we make plans a few days later. I come downstairs when I'm ready, expecting him to drive us only to discover he has no car. Okay... we already made plans so I drive us to the nearby restaurant. We have a couple of drinks and eat and the convo is going great until he starts going on a rant about how much he hates cops.... Mmmkay... Afterwards he tries to walk me upstairs to my apartment but I thank him for the date and stop him at the end of the stairs. A few days later there's a heavy knock on my door at 7 AM. It's the COPS. They show a picture of my downstairs neighbor and ask if he lives with me. I'm in shock because now all these heinous crimes he could be wanted for rush my mind. I signal that he lives below me because now I'm terrified this guy could be a whole murderer. I never saw him again so I'm assuming that he got arrested.

    There is no shame in being single - I've been single for 8 years, mostly by choice. Sometimes you need to take time away from dating and figure yourself out as a person and realize you don't have to be part of a relationship to be complete. Learn to enjoy your own company - take yourself on dates, go out to dinner alone, go to movies by yourself, pamper yourself, and enjoy the quiet moments. Life is too short not to learn to love yourself first.
    ---This is in no way ragging on anyone in a happy relationship, ala "You're just saying that cause you're lonely and no one would ever date you" (someone had the audacity to say that to me once cause I said I was actually quite happy alone), it's just a different perspective.

    One thing I learned about dating apps is just meet them in person asap. I hate small talk over apps, you cant see their mannerisms. Also, dont put too much information on your profile, its more fun to figure out things about a person organically. I met my fiancee on Hinge and he is literally my soulmate. We went on our first date the day after we matched, and we became exclusive on our second date. It was the BEST first date I have ever been on, I felt so comfortable talking to him. It did take about 10 failed dates to get to him, but just keep trying. Hinge will start curating new matches based on previous matches.

    One time, this guy I'd been seeing for about 4 months exclusively at that point, got really drunk one night and started crying to be about being SAed as a child, and he just sobbed in my arms.. my heart ached for him, so as I was running my fingers through his hair and rubbing his back, while he cried into my chest.. without thinking, I inadvertently told him that I had been through the same as a child.. naively expecting this to comfort him, and assure him that I wasn't judging him for something he had no control over, as the child.. He immediately sent me home, without explanation..
    Texted me a day or two later, ending things abruptly!! And he'd just literally been telling me he loved me when I'd seen him last, so I asked why.. and he said, "I just think you're gonna be damaged bc of that childhood experience and I'm not in a place to handle someone else's baggage."
    And I was like.. "wait.. what..? 😭😭 .. I only even told you that, which you clearly couldn't tell before, when you were putting yourself down to show you that it didn't change you as a person."
    I was just trying to explain that I wasn't judging him for that or seeing him as less, and ironically, he thought my past experience which never came up, was somehow too much for the guy who got drunk and cried every weekend to me about it happening to him.. and it never bothered me..!! 😭😭🫶🏻 I only felt empathy for him.. 😔 #sigh

    I figured out everytime my ex that I was with for 6 years and had 2 kids together would bring me home flowers on a random day and not a special occasion that he had cheated on me. I thought he was just thinking of me and bought me some flowers as a "good" boyfriend/husband might do but no. It was only out of guilt for cheating on me and/or trying to distract me from the fact that he had been "distant" lately.

      @sheilamartin880 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@StrangeFacinations no, most of them happen when he went out with his cousin and would stay the night over at his place after a night out at the bar that was right down the street from his cousins house which wasn't unusual because there were many times that we both went and would stay the night there to not have to drive home after drinking. Their was only one he took to a motel which was a girl from work but the type of job he had he would come home smelling like bearing grease and just general vehicle fluid smell and would get straight in the shower so I wouldn't have noticed a motel soap smell.

      I widowed at 45 after 25.5 yrs marriage to my soul mate. he made me promise to find love again. thought it had in his 5th cousin. together 6 yrs engaged for 5. he went to work one day and just never came home. took me 13 days to find out he wasn't dead in a ditch somewhere as i thought he crashed his transport. he bought a house behind my back, had ran up bills in my name so owed me money, was stealing my dead husbands tools out of the garage, lying like crazy. dated two very nice men after that but one just couldn't taken anybody having a different opinion than his and other was distance during covid pandemic. just too far and he wouldn't drive to me i had to always drive to him. decided i really didn't want a man that badly so have been happily single for 4 yrs now and not looking. dating is too much hassle esp when many are damaged toxic players or liars. i have 3 dogs i adore lots of things to do good friends and really don't have time for a man. i'm very happy doing my own thing, don't have to consider anyone else, can do what i want when i want pleasing myself. don't really think i will ever date again i'm now 59 but am not opposed should i happen to meet someone and we just click and fit but doubtful it will happen. my hubby and i were like two puzzle pieces. i was his queen he was my white knight. men just aren't like that anymore and i'm more than happy to continue being single. when i tell ppl i'm not looking for a man or interested in dating they tell me they can understand why and if they lost their partners they'd be same way they wouldn't be dating again either because ppl basically suck these days. i've had no women say to me oh u should be dating or why aren't u interested in finding a man. my kids are quite fine with me being alone if that is what i want and support me in whatever i decide. lost a son in 2022 daughter is going thru rough time so not that close but my 2 other sons are very supportive. they are single and no kids. my daughter has 2 sons but in custody battle with ex who's been abusive so she's not interested in dating either. all my friends in their 50's who are currently single also say they have no interest in dating or finding a man at all because there aren't any good ones out there single so seems we all feel the same. LOL we need to start a viking village of women and all live together in a commune men free.

    • @felicianomiko5659
      @felicianomiko5659 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +25

      I always find this interesting because I think it depends on how you grew up to how you see these things. In my family, we farted openly around each other and would make amusing comments. And we burped and that was fine. I am an only child so there was no sibling farting going on, so no trauma around it either. So to me, this is normal, intimate family behavior. You are comfortable and are yourself around your family and you can fart openly in your own home, there is no shame in bodily functions. We did NOT leave bathroom doors open though, that’s going to far IMHO.
      My husband’s family was the opposite. You DID NOT fart around other people. So he would hide his farts and of course fart in his sleep anyway which I thought was funny and cute. I always encouraged him to fart openly, to be comfortable and himself at home or around me. He wished I would hide my farts when we first married and I am having none of that nonsense. I am not going to jump up and run to the bathroom every time I have to fart, that’s ridiculous. It took him about 10 years to start farting in front of me and I was happy about it. It meant he was comfortable with me and that he knew I wasn’t going to shame him for it and that I would still love him, farts and all.

      I just had major surgery a couple weeks ago and after you have abdominal surgery you end up farting a _lot_ .
      So I’m stuck in a hospital bed and he’s trying to take care of me and I’m halfway out of my mind from the meds, then I keep farting involuntarily.
      I could not stop saying “excuse me” and “I’m sorry”.
      He kept telling me it’s fine and to stop, but I was nearly crying because I was saying it so much, which made him laugh because it was so unnecessary, lol.

We have never tooted in front of each other either, it’s just something that we both feel is a private matter and does not need to be shared between us. We don’t even burp in front of each other unless it is one of those that you just can’t stifle. It’s kept us together for 35 years and that’s what works for us!

      I was married for 25 years and same, we kept all of that as private. We are still friends with my ex and when he started going out with a girl he was shocked when she started farting, burping in front of him, He didn't like that at all 😂😂😂

      I really can't stand it when people fart or burp around me, but especially in public. I raised my son to not do that around people. He thought it was weird growing up as that was a regular thing at his friend's houses. He was dating a girl and they were in a nice restaurant and she belched very loudly and everyone turned and looked at them with disgusted looks on their faces. When he got home, he told me what she did and how embarrassed he was when she did that. He thanked me for having raised him with the manners to burp quietly and never fart around anyone. He never took her on another date. (I know Charlotte openly burps in some videos and most people don't care. I really can't stand it and only continue watching her content because I love her videos that much. There are several content creators I won't watch because they have done that in 1 video. I guess I gave her a pass, even though I really hate it)

      I feel same way. My ex husband always tucked the sheets under the mattress. It happened when we were first married, he shoved my head under the covers and tooted, I fought my way out, he ended up with a bloody nose. Never did it again.

    Okay. Saying damaged goods is wrong. However, dating a widow isn't easy. My husband passed away 4 yrs ago Sunday (Sept 1).
    My boyfriend comes into the bedroom with me just ugly crying. Sobbing my face off.
    He pulls me into his arms, says sweet things, and just let's me cry. His shirt was wet and covered in snot by the time I was done. I mean it's gross.
    A lot of men aren't prepared for that sort of emotion. Mind you, we are in our 50s. He's a psych nurse and I am a social worker, we know how emotions can work. It still takes a special kind of someone to deal with this at least 3x a year (anniversary, birthday, anniversary of their death).

      Your boyfriend sounds like a keeper - a good man who accepts you for you and does his best to both understand your position and support you through your pain.
      I'm truly sorry for your loss. I wish I had words to ease that pain, but I don't - I'm not sure they exist. However, if I pass before my hubby, I hope he finds someone to share his life with who is as loving as your boyfriend is to you - and I get the feeling that your husband would probably feel the same way for you. It's a relief to think of beloved people being well cared for when we're no longer able.
      Wishing you and your lovely fella every happiness 💕

    Damaged goods? Loss of a partner? Guess I married "damaged goods" almost 30 years ago. My hubby's girlfriend died due to the fact she liked to jump onto moving trains. He had her HS ring (and still has it). I never ever denied the pain he felt, I viewed it positively. If he could love someone that much, it would be good for me as his future wife. He finally gave me her ring about 20 years into our marriage and said I could get rid of it. I am still trying to find her family to send it to them.
