Let's Learn English! Topic: Things in Motion 🕯️🦋🔥 (Lesson Only)

  • In this free English lesson you'll learn how to describe all of the different ways that things move. When you look around you, you'll see things that move in some way, and we have specific English vocabulary to describe this motion. In order to talk about how something moves in an English conversation, you'll need to know these words.
In this free English class you'll learn words like: absorb, flicker, rotate, flip, drip, turn, flutter, roll, spin, pop up, pop, swing, hover, slide, jiggle, float, and many more!
I hope you enjoy this English class about describing how things move. I certainly enjoyed making it!
P.S. Thanks for the idea Mohd Ags! I thought it was a great topic, and I even upped my game for this one. I was able to pull off what I mentioned when I replied to your comment last week!
⌛ Remember: Always watch the video three times. Twice today with English subtitles on, and once tomorrow with the English subtitles off. This will reinforce the English you have learned!

An idea for your new video. Words: roar, boom, snarl, bellow, hum, growl, howl, yelp, yell, moan, grunt, - I often get a lot of these words mixed up. I'd like to listen from you a video with explanation of using them, and I think, it would be useful to others. Thank you!

Hello teacher Bob. I watch your lessons regularly because they help me improve my English.
Could you do a lesson about the names of different sounds? I always watch these movies on the internet with captions. There, they transcribe the sounds that occur during the plot as well. It is words like "clink", "clang" what concerns objects and "gasp" what concerns the sounds the actors make.
I really would appreciate getting more knowledgeable about these.

Spin: I think the old or British word for a top was/is a whirligig? And the verb would be to whirl.
Hover: I am never sure what the correct usage is: do you hover a button with your mouse or do you hover OVER a button... 'Hover' already includes 'over' so adding this preposition might sound redundant (a pleonasm so to speak).
And a question about a verb that I am not able to name. If you watch a small bird like a sparrow, they usually don't move their heads smoothly and slowly, but instead they make very rapid and abrupt moves in intervals (looking out for predators). What would we say: do they yank their heads around?
