    Loved this video; I’m slowly playing my way through Knizia’s games - well to be clearer- I’m playing and aquiring the best Knizia games:
    In the last year, with a lot of influence from yourself I have tried, tested and added;
    RA, BABYLONIA and QIN.
    It’s hard to say which are my favourite game because it depends on the day until I’m playing with. I love these three particular for the different types of gameplay.
    I enjoyed Qin so much so much I ended up creating my own bootleg copies one of which was a gift to a friend and one of which has become a firm favourite in a school Games club.
    I also enjoyed BABYLONIA very much- I improved the board by painting and using a white market pen to make the rivers much clearer distinct from the land for ease of gameplay.
    Pushed, I would have to say that RA is my current favourite because it is so much fun. There are very few games that can animate a group of people so much in terms of playful playful interaction.
    I am now on the hunt for ZOOVADIS and RAPIDO.
    Keep up the great work.

    Good to see favorable comments on Qin here. I hope to see it reprinted with more boards.

    Awesome to see Rapido so high! I have probably more than 100 plays on this. One of the best fillers ever.

    I don't think there is another designer you can pick 30 games you really enjoy and make a ranking with them. I am a Knizia fan myself and I already played more than 40 games from him (currently I have exactly 30 games). The only game on your list that I played and I didn't enjoyed is Age of War because I think it's too long sometimes and I don't feel like having many decisions so I prefer to play Pickomino + expansion, Mlem or Rapido which for me are his best dice games. I also sold Blue Lagoon because I think Through the Desert is way too similar, but it's a much better game for my taste. I wish I could try Municipium and Zoo Vadis, but it would be hard for us to table so I won't spend the money to get it.
    My top 5 would be:
    1- Through the Desert
    2- Samurai
    3- Rá
    4- Babylonia
    5- Qin
    You listed many great games from him and there is still games like Blue Moon city, Lhama Party Edition, Kariba, Art Robbery, Botswana, Viking See Saw, Equinox, and this mad man is releasing a lot of new games this year (Iliad, Ichor, Cat Blues Big Gig, RA and Write, Rebirth, etc). It seems like he is unstopabble.

    Fascinating list. Extremely different from mine which I suppose just goes to highlight the breadth of interests this man’s catalogue can appeal to.

    Almost every Knizia game I have made it to your list. I actually have never played your top two, but are high on my list to get to. You mentioned Blue Moon Legends, which I also had and moved on from. I could appreciate it's design, but wasn't for me. However Blue Moon City, is probably one that would easily sit in my top 5 currently. If you haven't tried this one, I'd highly recommend it. It's a terrific hand management race to the finish game.

      I also suggest trying blue moon city if you haven't yet. The old version > new for me.
      Thanks for the video, I'll try havalandi. Had not seen that one.

    Lovely list. Just got my hands on Marabunta on your recommendation and enjoyed it as well as used copies of Quest for El Dorado & Babylonia (not yet played). My current favorites would be Blue Lagoon and Modern Art. Ra is the only game I am embarrassed to say I haven't played yet and I am dying to.

    Awesome list! I would have to put Genesis & Quandary in my top 25, and T&E is my number 1 all time. But otherwise I can’t argue with this list! Only ones here I haven’t played are the newer ones like Witchstone, Havalandi, and Marabunta. One day soon I will give those a try!

    Gang of Dice is by far my favourite dice game by Knizia. Amun-re, but only with four or five players, is in my top five from the master. Carcassonne: The Castle is also in my top 10. However, I like to play without the bonustiles on the wall for less random.
    I got the language independent Gang of Dice from a french online p.

    Knizia is my favorite designer and he is amazing. Qin is the game that makes me feel like a complete moron because it's so simple rules-wise but I'm horrible at it! Rapido is a great choice!

    Wow, I'm not sure why, but I was surprised to see Havalandi so high for you. That's great! I know you really enjoyed it when it came out.
    Perhaps I missed it, but have you played Stevenson's Rocket? It's kind of an odd one, but I find it enjoyable with the right group.

    • @ChairmanoftheBoard
      @ChairmanoftheBoard  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I bounced hard off of Stevenson's Rocket unfortunately. I didn't like the constant vetoing.

    • @Original_Maverick
      @Original_Maverick 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ChairmanoftheBoard Yeah, the veto mechanism can definitely break up the rhythm of the game. It is something my group does sparingly, thankfully. Just as a check and balance to runaway leaders. The prospect of losing stock to veto kept my group from abusing it.

    Kingdoms and Indigo are also great game. But i am making a prediction today that the new game “Iliad” which is going to be published in March 2025 (currently on kickstarter) is going to be a super awesome game by great Dr and will surely be in your top 5 games for 2025 year - for me it will be in Top 3 along with Ra and El Grande.

  • @ClasmanFilms

    Knizia! Game design master! Indeed! Although, I’m over Ra. Recently, we played Nidavellir. Some similarities here, and we decided Ra with a tired old theme is on the chopping block. Not that the dwarves are a ton better, but at least it’s different. I had the deluxe version of Ra, neat at first, but the wow factor didn’t last long, eventually the group gave it a thumbs down. That’s just us…the rest of the world can keep loving it. It’s all good.

    • @bushibayushi
      @bushibayushi 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I vastly prefer Ra over NIdavellir, BUT! - I can absolutely see why someone would prefer the latter and those are definitely games that could replace each other in a collection.

    • @feliperodrigues8273
      @feliperodrigues8273 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Through the Desert is not similar to Kingdom Builder, very different experiences imo. Through the Desert plays perfectly at 2~4 players. At 5 it's still good but you have minimal control on what you are going to do. At 2 players it's like chess.
