+Renee Knight since ancient times chanting has been very powerful form of meditation .. Mind becomes focused and goes into meditative state .. one has to choose one mantra or word and it can be anything like jesus or allah anything but u need devotion for that one word ..its form of bhakti yoga To experince God 4 paths are there Bhakti Yoga(Devotion) ,Raja yoga(controling mind and emotions) ,Karma Yoga (action) and Jyana yoga(Knowledge) .. u can choose either ..but its said when 4 yogas unite then its the fastest way :) .. Wel many mystics of East and West have said experiencing God was kinda experiencing unity and forgetting in or out .. just one (YOGA means unity) Jai Shri Ram

Karma Yogi,Bhakti yogi,raja yogi and jnana yogi..All were great in their practices. For years they worked really hard to experience God but God didn't appear. One day there was flood in the village so all moved to an ancient temple higher up the hill.The rain was pouring hard so sat closely. Soon God appeared ..All 4 asked y now .. God laughed and said this yoga worked for u :) Gandhi was also Ram Bhakt (vaishnav)..His last words were 'Hey Ram' Jai Siya Ram
+Renee Knight I listened to pt Jasraj and Shankar Mahadevan, it was very good for relaxation. Both are great musicians. For chanting, the fast paced MS Subbulakshmi in Carnatic music is I like most. All others are Hindustani music. I am a huge huge fan of MS Subbulakshmi..too bad some of her audios are disabled due to copyright.
I listened to MS Subbalakshmi. last night. Very good traditional/classical Indian vocal stylings. Thank you for the recommendation. Namste, Rani Yog Devi

Of many, Bhaja Govindam song which combines the essence of Vedas is very beautifully song by her. Venkateshwara subprabhatam and ayigiri Nandini of Goddess Durga extremely melodic.
