Well laid out video on how to make your own ground generator bonding plug to Git-R-Done on the cheap and save some money, Thank you Sir.
P.S. A video showing it in practice would further inform and educate your viewers.

will this work on solar generators? If so, any risk of destroying the solar generator?

So will this make the generator ground hot? How does this protect against a shorted appliance?

It does NOT make the generator ground hot. This bond is between the neutral wire and the ground wire, not the hot wire. You do NOT want to bond the hot (black) wire to the ground or you may short out your generator and anything connected to it. You can google Neutral Ground Connection for additional information. Some generators come with the neutral and ground already bonded so you should check the specs on your generator as it might not be required. Many inverter generators do not have this bond (connection).

Question I had to un bond my gas generator so that I could use it with my homes transfer switch.in a power outage. For me to use the generator normally as a standalone unit to run power tools I would have to revert back to a bonded neutral for GFCI protection. Instead of switching wiring, could I just use this plug? It would save me time.

I would think that would work if you are connecting the generator through wiring that includes a GFCI outlet. It works fine in my RV where I have 2 GFCI circuits along with several non-GFCI circuits. Caveat - I am not an electrician & while I do use this on my RV where I am familiar with the wiring and limitations, I take no responsibility for situations with which I am not familiar.

Is this dangerous using it on a floating neutral inverter generator?

Floating neutral means the neutral isn't bonded to the frame, and the frame is the ground for the generator. If you get a standard 3 light outlet tester and plug it into a floating neutral generator, the lights on the outlet tester will show an error for an open ground. Insert the neutral ground bonding plug in another 20 amp receptacle on the generator and the outlet tester should show the wiring is correct. I've used the plug I made on my generator for many hours with no adverse impacts. Because my RV has a built in transfer switch, it won't allow the 120v AC power to pass if the transfer switch detects the open ground.
If you want to read up more on this subject, here is a link to a great article that provides a much more detailed explanation.

When I do this it just trips the GFCI on my outlet on the generator.

I've never had that problem with this plug on my generator and I've never had anyone else report this issue. Perhaps your generator already has the neutral / ground bonded? Recommend you look at the generator specs to see if that's the case.

@@candprv I just went for it and it worked so I guess I don't need it. Thanks so much for this video. You kept my family from freezing!

Why not just take your hot post out?
Neutral and ground will keep plug in

I suppose you could do that, but there's really no reason to pull the hot post since it's not connected to anything - and - it will help keep the plug in place as the generator runs and vibrates.
