One time a few years back, one of our roosters, which sadly passed away since, let out a call like this for the first time and I was purely shocked. We keep our chicken in our shed which is our chicken coop and when we opened the door for them to come out, everyone rushed out including our ducks and hens. Our rooster was much slower to move out as most of our roosters have been (I guess it’s just a thing. They like to take their time more). Not even 5 seconds after I opened the door my rooster lets out a screech almost picture perfect to this one. Not a blink of an eye goes by before every single hen scrambled to get back into their coop. At the time I had no idea that roosters were capable of such a thing or what provoked him to do that. For me, it was martens. I am living in Anatolia and here is no possums or raccoons. Martens are like raccoons, eating from Garbage cans, living in roofs of old houses and sneaking in coops to kill and drink blood of birds.
@Pandacat 666 I did not try garlic but as I know, martens are so sensitive to scents. They stay away from burned tires, peeled garlic and dogs. İf you don't have a dog, you can even use an used dog blanket to keep them away from your coop.
I remember seeing a story about a hawk that somehow got into a hen house, but the hens showed no mercy. The poor hawk was practically begging for the farmer to get it out of there.

I have a few hawks that live across the street in the jungle. They used to hunt right in my backyard for squirrels, birds, lizards etc... a year ago I got chickens and made sure to get Black Australorpes. The hawks are still right across the street but they will not come into my yard anymore.

One time a few years back, one of our roosters, which sadly passed away since, let out a call like this for the first time and I was purely shocked. We keep our chicken in our shed which is our chicken coop and when we opened the door for them to come out, everyone rushed out including our ducks and hens. Our rooster was much slower to move out as most of our roosters have been (I guess it’s just a thing. They like to take their time more). Not even 5 seconds after I opened the door my rooster lets out a screech almost picture perfect to this one. Not a blink of an eye goes by before every single hen scrambled to get back into their coop. At the time I had no idea that roosters were capable of such a thing or what provoked him to do that. Thankyou for this video. R.I.P Goldy, you were a good ass rooster 😂🪦🕊️
My grandmother used to do this when I would spend summers on her farm as a child! I have no clue how this ended up in my recommendations from watching car videos but thank you for bringing up a pleasant and funny memory for me :-)

For me, it was possums.
For me, it was martens. I am living in Anatolia and here is no possums or raccoons. Martens are like raccoons, eating from Garbage cans, living in roofs of old houses and sneaking in coops to kill and drink blood of birds.
@Pandacat 666 I did not try garlic but as I know, martens are so sensitive to scents. They stay away from burned tires, peeled garlic and dogs. İf you don't have a dog, you can even use an used dog blanket to keep them away from your coop.

I remember seeing a story about a hawk that somehow got into a hen house, but the hens showed no mercy. The poor hawk was practically begging for the farmer to get it out of there.

This is pretty damn amazing though, scientists have found that chickens really do have their own "vocabulary" and different calls for aerial predators, ground predators, and other occasions related to food and locating each other. It's also really impressive that you could imitate the hawk alarm call so well!

I have a few hawks that live across the street in the jungle. They used to hunt right in my backyard for squirrels, birds, lizards etc... a year ago I got chickens and made sure to get Black Australorpes. The hawks are still right across the street but they will not come into my yard anymore.
