Love what you're doing. Got a little trick for you to help prevent your pickets running out of square. If you switch your spacer blocks back and forth each time, any difference in the spacer block length will sort itself out. Block A up, block B down, next picket block B up block A down.
I am writing to you from Greece .... I have also been a blacksmith and alumina for forty years and I love your organization and your equipment and your fantastic art. Well done.
Hai bapak jimbo's pelerjaan bapak sangat mengesankan seorang welder profesional, sangat menginspirasi kami di indonesia profesi welder memang menyenangkan selamat mr. Jim semogah sukses selamanya. Bravo
I enjoy your videos and work. You are a true craftsman. I wanted to share a trick that Tom Silva TOH had for spacing pickets. Mark a story pool...for your gate the example would be marks every 4 inches. You would lay it across the gate area at angle until a mark lines up on each side. Transfer the marks to the work. The spacing is less than 4 inches but the spacing is equal. Thanks, Darryl
When using spacers like that take your chop one and drop it down to the bottom and then your bottom one to the top and keep alternating then your package will stay straighter because if you're off even 1/32 of an inch it doesn't take long for that to add up to half inch in fact exactly 16 pickets will add to 1/2 inch
Hey Jimbo, I build alot of gates's and handrails. I like to put all the seams on square tubing on the inside it's a much cleaner look after paint or power coat. Nice clean build on that Gate looks good.
looks awesome , One thing i would say is when putting rings in i personally space them evenly between the bars so they dont look out of place and are centre to the gap in the infill.
Hello from Greece 🇬🇷! Thank you for your videos! As always very good job! P. S. : if I use spacers I used to change them. Once left, once right etc. Most times works perfectly. 😉 We waiting for your next video!!! Stay healthy!
Excellent tip! I never thought about that. If I understand what you're saying, you mean alternate the spacers between each step. That way, if they aren't exactly the same, the difference averages out. Great tip! 👍
I like it. Good job. The thing that I learned Building and installing them in Michigan is that they end up heaving from the snow water and ice. So I make custom hinges that are adjustable so they can be relieved when needed.
Little late here but jimbo id like to know how you got goin in the fence/gate fab world and what inspired you to do what you do. I think itd be interesting to hear your story about where your idea come from and how the "jimbo garage" idea come about.
Curious about the finish. Painted or powder coated? With lapping the screen over the pickets how does the finish keep the gate from rust between the back of the screen and back of the pickets. I would have painted this gate probably. I would have used weldable primer where these pieces over lapped. Also I use the ShutIt brand of BadAss hinges. They make about ever model possible for every application. Their products are the best I’ve found.
Very nice work just a litle detail. When you are using these hinges you dont place them on the door and the case but you incert a piece of paper almost 1 mm as a spacer for two reasons tou can do a better weld with that space and second when you paint the door if there is no space the upper part of the hinge will scratch the frame and the llower will always scratching the door.I use paper and not metal as spacer because it bends betwen the door and the frame and that helps me to weld the hinges straght
Super good job! I'm currently getting 27ft of driveway gates built with security screen, have you ever put two layers of screen for additional security? 3 of my neighbors have done it and it does make a big difference. Because it gets very windy here I wanted the perforated screen rather than the solid panels.I tested small pieces and found out there is a need to turn them 90deg to avoid large honeycomb pattern. Any comments on this?
Was watching ask this old house and Tommy was doing a wooden railing and he used a long piece of elastic to space his pickets out even seem to to work great
Jimbo, love your videos. Something that was drilled into my head is hide the seams/. I dont see you doing that often, do your customers complain? I always tuck them in, under or pointing down. Just a thought. Cheers!
Most of your (great) videos are either jobs for customers or build projects for yourself. Could you tackle a project from your TH-cam audience? Don't know what the guidelines are but that will be part of the fun, as well as the project itself. Steve
Jimbo very good job as always, it's good to see your work, but today I draw attention to your safety shoes that you used at the start of work, it surely protects you from the splashes of the weld, you could give the mark,..........
I work for Western fabrication. And for something like that we would usually charge $400 to powder coat it. And if you sand blasted it beforehand or we had to do that it would be another $350.
Hi JIMBO'S GARAGE love your video's and your welding skills - Im actually looking to have a driveway gate built for my house and when you mentioned your metal supply store was King Metals, I was glad to know you are local to me and I would like to ask if you would be available to work on a driveway gate for me? Let me know what we can do to get a quote going.Thank you sir
Olá, uma sugestão, a solda dos arcos não poderiam ter sido feitas somente do lado interno do portão, acredito que o acabamento ficaria mais fino e limpo. Abraço.
just start from the center line with pickets on each side youll end up with a smaller gap on each side but the same all across thats how i do it anyways
Fantastic! I also done this before. But your work is pretty much nice compared to me and fortunately, i wasn't able to get a video nor pictures of my work. My bad.

Yes that I’m saying. I don’t speak very good English 😉😀
Not a problem, I understood what you meant. 😁
Thank you!

I like it. Good job.
The thing that I learned

planning to build my first gate. watching your videos helps a lot. Great info!!!! Thank you

i have a powercraft mig welder i really need to use more. watching you makes me want to do more metal work.
I love the wedding techniques I wish I could have a chance to work with a team like this . 👍 Lovely
شغلك مضبوط يالشيبه 👌🏼
For those of us who don't know how to finish everything, could you add a video about installing the gate and how to put up the supports? thanks
Yep, that would be nice !
Nice job. Love the Chinese safety boots…..lol.
yo your weld sequencing is wild man...haha
Curious about the finish. Painted or powder coated?

Those hinges are nice but 10x the cost of bullet hinges

Hey I was wondering if u could post videos of you installing them and then functioning. Just curious how you install them and them functioning
I miss making things like this at home. Ironically, a couple of years back I started working at a fabrication shop and the work at home stopped.

nice job as usual jimbo, look great in place, all the best..........................................dougie
Great Channel! Live the content and commentary
Nice looking gate!
Hey Jim, I manufacture safes for bank's for a living and we call those barrel hinges.Love the videos, keep up the great work 😁👍.
What i coincidence.
I break into them..
I have a big 9' tall x 50" wide steal front door with glass that opens up separate and has those same hinges. Solid and smooth
Happy New year
Sup! Jimbo enjoy watching ur videos, question any idea what the finished gate weight is?
Thanks 👍🍻
Another great build!
Nice work Jimbo!
What’s the best way to give a quote, and do you usually go measure the yard bfor taking note
Great job!
I'm currently starting a gate build 10ftx6ft and I was wondering how did you end up mounting it to the house/wall? Cool videos thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching Chad, Lag screws to the house, And concrete screw anchors to the wall, 3/8'' x 4'' long. Jimbo!
@@JimbosGarage thanks for the reply
Nice gate put how is some1 suppose to paint the back if the pickets with that sheet of stuff on it
That security screen material is called perferated sheet it comes is many different size perferations very good material!
Jimbo you legend
your setup is sweet
Hi Jimbo, with a transformer or inverter you prefer to work ? I really like your work and thank you for sharing with us !
great video ... big project in simple manor.
Hey Jimbo............how much you got in materials for this fine looking gate?
you have a fan in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas Mexico.
Awesome jimbo!!
well done jimbo....
Great job …. I'm just curious if you make any effort to remove mill scale on your material.
Loves from India......
Hey Jimbo, another great steel gate. Lucky for you, everyone in SoCal seems to want to live behind a tall steel gate. What's up with that?
Yeh man
Awesome work jimbo!! Do you have much rust issues by not fully coating certain areas like behind the pickets and flat bar?
Hey Jimbo, do you leave a weeping hole at the bottom of the picketts? Awesome work and channel.
Cheers!
Scruffe what do you mean by seams?
Carlos Medina the seam in the metal tubing where it meets to complete the tube
Muy buen trabajo
Man love watching ur stuff its made me sort out Chris's garage lol
sobrang cute naman yang si Liit nyo madam
The "security screen" is actually called "perf" or "perforated sheet". And the weld on hinges are called bullet hinges, at least where I'm from.
tHE SANDALS GOT YOU A SUBSCRIBER...

Have you seen nexus metal works work? What do you think?
My balcony has the same design but without the security screen. need to make a new gate for my fence that matches 🇺🇸
I love that table. Give more info on it?
Could you give some details on weld procedure. e.g. gas or flux WFS / VOLTS...thanks!
It's very simple. Just equally devide your pickets. You dont have to be at 4"
3" 7/8 or 4" 3/4" I think you get it now.
Jimbo very good job as always, it's good to see your work, but today I draw attention to your safety shoes that you used at the start of work, it surely protects you from the splashes of the weld, you could give the mark,..........
Hey Jimbo nice garage!!! Lol I just subscribed👍🏻
I sure hope those are Kevlar socks you are wearing with your welding sandals!
Why didn't you use the same center out method of the rings on the pickets?
Just out of curiosity how much would I cost to powder coat a gate this size. Fine job by the way 👍
Exactly what I’d like to know
Mattys vision at gate that size here in Barbados would cost roughly $1000 BBD = $500 US. I'm a welder working in a company that do powder coating.
I work for Western fabrication. And for something like that we would usually charge $400 to powder coat it. And if you sand blasted it beforehand or we had to do that it would be another $350.
I inspire your style sir ...👌👌jay hind🇮🇳....sir
good and very interesting
1:56 JIMBO... those DO NOT look like OSHA approved welding shoes. :-)
Doug's Welding & Fabrication mine a moccasins. Bbs can’t get through it. Tennis shoes do nothing
They are technically made of leather
He only wears them when welding! He changes to boots for grinding! Great job though!
Welding in socks and scandals lol. That will make you do the happy dance
If you switch sides with the 2×4's after every picket weld, it'll stay square.
Ficou perfeito parabéns
Hi

I would use 4 hinges 2 close together at the top one in the middle and finally 1 at the bottom
BARRY MAX the more hinges, the more chances for it to bind if there off at all.
jimbo garaje eres bien chingon
good job on the build man but the spacing part is so easy start in the middle
What kind of boots are you wearing jimbo?
Nice Birkenstocks bro!! #protectthepiggies
Olá, uma sugestão, a solda dos arcos não poderiam ter sido feitas somente do lado interno do portão, acredito que o acabamento ficaria mais fino e limpo. Abraço.
New subscriber, man I love your channel.....keep them videos coming....oh love the safety sandals you're rocking...lol
Hey Jimbo what kind of paint you used
First time I saw a welder wearing sandals 👀
Sandles and socks when welding ?
amazing job boss, hi from argentina
Where can I get those table dogs ?
he made them in a lathe I believe. if you don't have one a local machine shop should be able to do them fairly cheaply.
Damn these circles are hollow :O Maybe it is a good idea in order to avoid gate twist due to weight...
socks, sandals, and welding...this guy is boss
just start from the center line with pickets on each side youll end up with a smaller gap on each side but the same all across thats how i do it anyways
Love the non steel toe work boots!
I want yo see the instalación of that door
How much this gate cost ?
Any chance we could have you build a gate for us?
Cool :)
Jimbos onde você esconde os cilindro de gás
TAJIKISTAN 👍 USA
That hing post has to be secured to the building. No way it will hold that weight.
😍😍😍
Fantastic!
I also done this before. But your work is pretty much nice compared to me and fortunately, i wasn't able to get a video nor pictures of my work. My bad.
