      @@bobdonovan34 Are you kidding me? Hockey players do that crap ALL the time. Off the top of my head, goal cellies and if they KO a guy in a fight. Not to mention, football players can't say to an opponent they do not like, "Hey, we are gonna go...drop 'em" and then have a bare knuckle fist fight. After hits, hockey players can't stand for too long because the play is ongoing. They DO taunt the guy though.

If another team did that shit to us one of our guys would either step in and settle it there or line the guy up on the next shift ... and for sure if one of our guys celebrated like that ... we'd straighten him out in the locker room. They are the most gifted athletes imo and humble as can be.

    The speed of the game is what really separates hockey from the hits in sports like football. Some of the hits are the result of 2 opposing forces colliding at a combined speed of up to 45 MPH. The other thing is the boards don't have much give, Over the years, the league has tried to eliminate the head hits but they still occur with relative frequency. Glad you enjoyed the video. Love the energy.

    You wanna see some crazy hits, check out people being "Kronwalled". Niklas Kronwall has a talent for reading plays. Especially during the playoffs and olympics, he reads people from across the ice, picks up some speed skating backwards towards them, and WRECKS them when they meet at center-ice. He isn't a huge guy, but he hits like he is 400 pounds.

    2:45, two people have. Both survived. Not going to give names lest you're tempted to look them up. If you find the videos, that's on you.
    Also, most of these hits are slowed down for replay, watching full speed is even more brutal.

    Most of the dudes who hit guys amd they "don't see it coming," that's part of what makes it a brilliant hit. A huge portion of these hits are perfectly legal, as long as the player has the puck they are fair game

    There’s a number of reasons why Hockey has such violent collisions number one the game is about intimidation it’s about making your opponent concerned for his safety and his well-being number to the speed of the game and sometimes you inability to avoid another person because of your speed and the last and probably the more influential part is there is no Outabounds in hockey you can’t hide you can’t really run and of course you don’t want to be embarrassed in front of your teammates so sometimes you have to make the play and take the hit Luckily any hit that involves striking ahead is now an illegal hit. CTE is pretty significant in hockey since the 70s and the 80s are only recognizing it now in the 90s.

    I find it hilarious watching reactions to hockey. In Canada we start playing at 3 4 years old. We are just used to seeing and getting body checked. And no you don't body check at 3. That starts in your teens. But yeah it's just normal here. Fighting too.

  • @aralornwolf3140
    @aralornwolf3140 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not sure if it has been mentioned, but not all of those hits were legal in hockey... you're not allowed to hit a person from behind (crosschecking), especially into the boards (boarding penalties can be 2 minutes or 5 minutes major with the potential to be kicked out of the game). Hits to the neck and head are of course, subject to league disciplinary action (people have been given 10+ game suspensions).

    • @chrisbolliger5717
      @chrisbolliger5717 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A hit from behind is not crosschecking. Crosschecking is when you have both hands on the stick and your stick is more or less parallel to the ice and your stick is the point of contact for the hit. Any penalty can be a 2 minute minor or a 5 minute major or result in misconduct depending on the severity of the infraction. The line between minor and major is usually (but not always) whether blood is drawn.

    I played hockey for 12 years, never played football. Its possible for hockey hits to be as painful as anything you'd get in football because of the speeds. I think it's more likely to hurt in football, though, just because its 100% friction and a lot of the guys weigh 260+ pounds. A lot of the common "big" hits in hockey, you're going the same direction and it hurts, but it's not too serious. A lot of the open ice hits, though, where you get dropped are like a guaranteed concussion, and in minor league hockey a hit from behind into the boards is more common, because the pros are generally trained very well not to hit from behind, because it's a guaranteed penalty, and you'll get the shit beat out of you if you do. Hit from behind, by the way, is imagine you're bent over 90 degrees with the top of your head against the wall. Then somebody hits you from behind and rams you head first into the wall. It sucks. My first hit ever, I accidentally creamed the smallest kid in the game from behind and he was like 4 feet from the boards. I just stopped playing at that moment and looked up at the hockey gods, then helped the kid up...

    I always love to see peoples reactions to hockey if they have no experience with the sport..... It's really weird, most people know it's a sport but have never watched it........ Of course when they do they love it and are addicted ........ I have never met anyone that watched a hockey game and was like "that was boring" lol...... As a matter of fact the truth is the opposite - they say "this is so exciting" and of course they will claim what they were expecting was essentially wrestling or a play, but they got everything hockey is... And it's funny when after a game someone that is ignorant to hockey is like "I wasn't expecting that but what I just saw was awesome"........
    There is no one on this planet that dislikes or hates hockey - there are only people who have never seen it.....
