    ur best reviewer on here bro fr
    love the breakdowns of the technicalities of rapping (while not overlooking concepts, content, etc) that i think ppl jus seem to gloss over nowadays… JID did sum special with this album 🔥
    him and Marci fucked up my AOTY list lmao

      Bro I honestly just be tryna get a lil bit better with each review and try to give some actual analysis so to get this type of response really means a lot bro 🙏🏾 really appreciate it!
      Man I was just saying how my AOTY list is in complete shambles lol! Bruh it was bad enough tryna figure out where roc fit in but now I’m having a hard time ranking just the albums that came out this month 😂

    This album was amazing on levels. The content matter and storytelling, the production, the features were all amazing. Also this album is extremely versatile. This album is a great example of how to both great technological rapping but also make sonically pleasing songs. Forever Story is a top 5 AOTY.

      You spot on bro! The thing I’m appreciating most about JID’s career so far is that every album showed significant improvement.
      Never story sounded good sonically and and had a lot of good melodic rap but only flashed the technical rapping. DiCaprio 2 had ridiculously good technical rapping, still sounded good sonically, but only flashed that depth and introspection. This joint sounded great sonically, the rapping was otherworldly, and the storytelling and introspection was excellent! Dude really perfecting his craft. Also i can’t remember last time he spit a mid verse

    This is JID best album by far and his most complex project since he started rapping. The 4 year break between DiCaprio 2 and The Forever Story was worth it no doubt. I always knew JID was capable of making an impeccable album since 2018. He knew how to keep his fans entertaine a long time with him being included in all 3 Dreamville projects, that Spillage Village compilation and all that singles from last year or 2. This album is his most personal one, his most focus, he had the best singing here, the best ideas, the best features, very good rhymes and flows and his best songs to date. I admit this is the album of the year and the best rap album of the last 2 almost 3 years. 🔥
    I feel like a lot of artists forced themselves to release an album just to add some body of work in their discography such as Kendrick, Joey Badass, Logic, Action Bronson, Roc Marciano, Westside Gunn, Gunna, Nav with his new album, Young Thug with Punk, Drake, Kanye, Earl.

    • @BSideRapReviews
      @BSideRapReviews 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Bro ion think I coulda said it better!! With more listens, I got this album as 1 or 2, which is saying a lot because I think this, Mr Morale, ad cheat codes all woulda been AOTY last year. I still think Mr Morale is really special so haven’t decided between the 2 yet.
      I mentioned it in the intros but the crazy thing about DiCaprio 2 is to me it didn’t even feel like he was trying. Off the zoinkies and workout were personal but every thing else was just him rapping out of his mind.
      I thought if he honed in on a particular theme, he’d make a classic and this album is just that - a classic. And I personally only use that term a once every few years.
      I think this album catapulted catapulted him into the best artist of his era - esp out of the mainstream rappers, no one else after the Kendrick era of rappers is even close.

    • @BSideRapReviews
      @BSideRapReviews 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Fire for sure!! Kenny Mason is one of my fav rappers now. Him, JID, and GRIP are REALLY special imo.
      I prob won’t get around to a full reaction but angellic hoodrat Supercut was one of my fav albums of last year and I covered it briefly in my top 20 albums of the year video. I had it #9 and woulda prob had it higher but it was a rap list and he had a lot of songs where he didn’t rap. Pup and Fasho we’re both in my top 5 most streamed songs.
      I think it’s a good chance that he’ll drop a full length project this year. Did you check out that Pup Pack from a couple weeks ago? If so what did you think?

  • @kalenclayton
    @kalenclayton 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Terrific reaction as usual! This is an AOTY contender against Denzel and Kendrick. Right now I have Denzel and JID ahead.

    • @BSideRapReviews
      @BSideRapReviews 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Preciate that! This and Mr. Morale are my number 1 and 2 albums of the year so far…which is kinda unexpected for me because my top albums are usually mostly underground every year. I had Denzel at number 1 for all of 1 week lol cus I thought that aethiopes project by Billy woods topped it. Right now I got Zel at my number 6 AOTY. It’s crazy because I think a solid 7 albums from this year would have competed for AOTY last year which show you how good of a year this has been

    • @BSideRapReviews
      @BSideRapReviews 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Year??? Bruh album of the MONTH is a bloodbath LOL!! I felt good about my top 10 up til this weekend but JID and Roc Marci got it in shambles 😂
      I think there’s a couple flaws but it’s not many and I think they lie outside of JID. I thought a couple of the beats and features were lack luster like I thought the Can’t Punk Me and Just In Time beats weren’t up to par with how good the rapping was. That and Durkio didn’t deserve to be on the album lol how he does he get a verse over Kenny mason. If you wanted a big game they shoulda got one of the YSL boys to rap through the jail phone 😂😂
      But bro I thought DiCaprio 2 was excellent and I think this is easily an improvement over it. Worth the wait fasho.
      And bro I really appreciate the love!! ✊🏾

    • @RapSamples___

      @@BSideRapReviews, my favorites joints would have to be “Strictly 4 My D.U.M.P.E.R.Z”, that’s duo tape with Fahim, and his solo project called “Supreme Black History”. I don’t really listen to him that much as the other affiliates but, he definitely needs more recognition🔥💯

    Man I don't know ...
    Heard this album like 3 times, and it does not grow on me
    His rapping is top notch as always, but i kinda do not feel most of the features + beats
    But maybe it's just that I listen to more grittier and grimier rap in the last months ...
    But anyways, as always man, amazing and enjoyable reaction!
    Cheers!

    • @BSideRapReviews
      @BSideRapReviews 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bro I be in that mood sometimes especially when I listen to abstract rap where I be like this is cool and all but I’m tryna hear bout slingin some crack 😂😂😂
      Ay it be like that. I def feel you on the some of the features and beats but I did rock with most. Also some of these beats aren’t the best to me but i like the aesthetic of a technical lyricist rapping over southern trap influenced beats - esp since prior to guys like JID, Kenny Mason, and Denzel Curry i can’t think of great rappers on that style of beat. Maybe in the early trap rap days but not that ain’t even the same style to me.
      But yeah thanks for the love brotha!! Salute!!

      Same here. I've listen to this album 3x and haven't been able to connect. I always listen to albums 2x so that I can decide if it's for me or not, unless it's very bad. So I checked it out a 3rd time because of a back and forth with someone on other chat telling me it's the best album, blah, blah....🤣😂 But man it doesn't connect, JID is wonderful lyricist and I can see the appeal and his greatness.
