I'm convinced that Midnight Express is giving their new owners special training in how to handle inlets like Haulover. Notice how many boats coming thru the inlet have their props loose contact with the water and over rev. I/O's had their lower units lower in the water as well as distributing their engine wait towards the bow. I think the outboards are unable to get the proper bite in the water which negatively affects trim angle. Just a thought not based on science.
They mostly handle the rough water well. Need some skill at the helm not to bury the bow with the power available, but really enjoy this video and the MEs. The 37's are too small for large swells without great skill probably; the upcoming 51' vitesse will probably be even better, with the 60' beast a bit heavy and long with the current power to keep up the bow. Great work and will watch this many times!
After watching some of those videos I come to the conclusion that all that stuffing is the inevitable result of inapropriate boat shapes for rough conditions, wrong trimming, and poor driver skills.
Can anyone please describe the proper way to navigate these waves without taking on water across the bow? I grew up on lake and have tons of experience driving boats, but I never really have taken on waves this big.
I know nothing about the Midnight Express boats, but the folks driving them reasonably seem to do fine. I kind of see the point of the reverse shear. It improves visibility. I personally don’t like it, but I see the point. I think they probably thought you would just keep the bow up when it gets sloppy. Meanwhile, that guy straight up duck dived a 60 ft boat with a 15 ft beam and 6 racing outboards in like 4 ft seas (less?). I’d say “task failed successfully.”
At the speeds these boats go you want the visibility, and I think they handle rough water fine if the pilot drives with some skill and responsibility; I actually like the way they handle roughstuff, but some of these boaters are trying to go WOT, trim down like the sea state doesn't matter.

When they're just plowing along, it's tough to see. But, Once up on a plane, they can see fine.
5 outboards, shiza, I'm used to scooting along with my 2 horse. Them puppies are something.
Okay that second boat definitely dropped lost something in the water. You can see to dark items fly of it's roof into the water after that splash.
That clip is Epic! That boat is 60'
It appears to be the port topside light or cover of the light. You can freeze frame and more forward frame by frame.
Good catch definitely broke something off the hardtop 👍
At the 1 minute mark, did he blow out the windshield?

Jeez those blown out widshields! Must have been like taking a 3ft wave to the face fore the pilot
I think they should put motors in the front of the boat too and on the sides
Moral of the story is don't buy a midnight express !
😵 Wow! I'm really surprised that boat came back up!!
The Yellow Submarine!
I don't own a Seavee....but a Seavee saved my rear end! Tough boat's!
Man the performance of those boats are just incredible! Great video, love your channel!!!
Thanks a bunch!
Thank you so much for this vidéo ! Very nice boats ! 😎

Million dollar boats 5 cent captains. Makes for good entertainment🤣🤣
You could see the tail between its legs as that yellow boat sailed back in. Lol. Worst stuffing at haulover. I would say.
The old school wide bow flare, closed bow hulls, while not sexy really did handle rough water better
I’m so old I think bow flair is new school. :)
I didn't know submarines used haulover inlet!!!!
