Sometimes you have to know when you're beaten and on this particular day it was The wind 1-0 Dazza.
It was a real shame as I'd planned to meet up with a fellow photographer and vlogger who knew the area well, but we had to cancel due to high winds and heavy rain.
We may be in charge of what cameras we buy or the locations we visit or what time of day we shoot, but we have no control over the weather and so I had to make the most of a rough day.
Despite the bad weather, I did manage to get one shot that I was really pleased with and so it wasn't a complete disaster.

Is was worth the wait Darren and the battle! Beautiful images.
I was lucky to be able to return the following day Bernard. It’s a 300 mile round trip for me and so usually if the weathers against me, I just have to suck it up.

I have got to say that image is fantastic for a roaches publication very well telling the story of the places perfectly. Let me know when your next planning a visit it’s only 30 miles from me. I got a great photo of a sunrise with some cold frost. Near the same as yours
If I’d have known you were so close, we could met for a coffee at least Paul.
It’s a beautiful place and I’m sure I’ll return towards the end of summer, with hopefully better conditions 😉

Real shame you got such windy conditions Darren there is so much to enjoy and shoot there though I certainly wouldn't have persevered for so long I would have been in that van with my feet up lol

It was well worth you standing around in the biting wind for me to sit at home with a nice cup of tea to look at the photo's.
Seriously, the photo's are great. If you can't beat the wind then you used it really well in the photo's of the trees. Pity about the light but you made the best of it and any post-production was subtle.
I would have given up long before!
When I couldn’t feel my hands, feet or face I did consider packing up, but then I thought what will Iain watch whilst sipping tea in a warm toasty house if I don’t complete the video?
And so I pushed on just for you mate. 😂

It's a shame about the light mate. That being said, I really like the composition you dragged out for the image at 10:15ish... you can see the planning that went into it. Hopefully the weather will be on your side next time 🤞🤞

A really good idea of life as a landscape photographer! It’s often tougher than people realise. But you brought together a really interesting vlog and still managed some very good images to boot 😊👍

Great perseverance Darren, I could feel the cold for you :-) Some nice images as always with another recce in the bag. PHD Designs clothing may help you battle the elements, Yukon Jacket and Kappa trousers keep me snug in silly weather, well worth a look :-)

And at least you met a really friendly fellow photographer while up there😂. Did you ever try the Roaches Tea Rooms for breakfast? I followed your tips on how to get up to the ridge and along past the pool, but omg the sideways rain and sleet made it impossible to get an image! Went back a couple of weeks later and had much better conditions, though 👍

You’re right I did meet a friendly photographer and it was lovely chatting to you.
I did make it to the tea room, but I arrived at 12.10 and they wouldn’t serve me a breakfast as they stopped serving at 12.00, so I had to eat from there lunch menu, which was .........Ok 😉
As you know, the conditions were hard when we met up but I went back there on the Saturday with my wife (just for a walk) and the conditions were a lot better.
I’m glad you returned and had better weather. Hopefully are paths we’ll cross again up there.

Some nice images from one of my 'go to' places. Well done with the conditions but try it with an added snow storm. That was a trip I won't forget in a hurry lol :-D

Mate I bet that was brutal? The closest thing I can imagine to that, was Iceland, March 2018. Even I didn’t go out on that day. The wind and sleet was enough to knock you off your feet.
Keep on enjoying the Roaches and hopefully are paths will cross up there.........in more favourable conditions 😉

Wadger Catcher I need to catch up on a few of yours mate. Sometimes I like but don’t always comment as I’m at work when I watch. It’s hard to watch everybody every week when you subscribe to lots of photographers
I totally agree that vlogging every week can be hard. I built up a back catalogue when I was away for 5 weeks, but now I may start to release once a fortnight instead.
Only do it if it’s fun. When it becomes a chore, stop, take a break and return 👍
@@DarrenKnightPhoto yeah I'm the same. Watch at work and can't always comment. Yeah that's the plan, works being a nightmare so want to take some time to just chill not feel rushed for vlogs. Need a trip to give myself a backlog.

no I went back to Happisburgh and man it was Wild! I’m just going The the pics now. I took over 500 shots yesterday, which is crazy. I was trying to capture the movement in the sea, but trying to go through them now is a ball ache 😉

I went back to Happisburgh as it was high tide, but it was VERY high tide and really strong winds.
In terms of vlogging, Headless chicken springs to mind 😮
