We get hit doubly. The 1.4 conversion rate for USD > CAD just hammers us on anything. So what is affordable in USA, say 25k for a truck, becomes 50K here (about an average annual salary). Just not sustainable. We may not be as bad in purchase losses YOY but I can tell you, now, people are penny pinching… looking at used vs new and perhaps delaying as many years as possible. We’ve also got mortgage problems, massive credit card loads… yeah, is not pretty here.
I have a ‘19 Grand Cherokee Green Trailhawk (86k odo). I would consider trading it in on something reasonable but the MSRP on the brand’s vehicles just skyrocketed since I bought. Was thinking about downsizing to a Compass Trailhawk, but the price is about $50k… yeah, nope -- my GC was not much more than that. Lol
Price on Canada are insane. A dealer in Toronto islington chrysler has 2025 hellcat Durango hammerhead edition for Msrp $169,000 plus taxes …. The dealer is discounted it $30,000but it’s still $138,000 plus taxes this issue is a law was passed in 2022 called luxury tax on vehicles over $100,000 it can be between an extra 10-20$ tax on top of sales tax which here in Ontario is 13% … all of this on top of the usd to cad exchange rate these cars are massively over priced 15-20 percent discount is not enough
Luxury tax was in the USA before it was here in Canada, they scrapped it because it was a disaster for their economy. This is what happens when you vote in stupid, you get stupid.
Thanks for the update TK The biggest rebate I’ve seen here in Canada has been 18% That’s still nowhere near enough considering how bad we’re getting gouged by these ram dealers . But it’s just not the ram dealers only it’s Chevy and Ford and a lot of foreign dealers as well. We here in Canada are getting the proverbial dick in our ass.
Dealer (Ontario) told me to wait 2 weeks if looking for a new ram. How much of a discount? I don’t know. Possibly an $80k truck for $60k? Have to wait and see
@@jenn1388they had that problem years ago in the buffalo/ toronto area. dealers complained, so now, if you live in canada but buy in usa, or live in usa but buy in canada, then you have no factory warranty. 🤯👀💯🙄🤑💰👺🙆😤

You lose the warranty but I’ve gone to the states before and picked up one of these bargains. Easy to import but close border dealers won’t sell to Canadians. If I can get a ram at 50% off, even with the exchange it’s still a good deal.
Hey TK I'd really like to buy a ram RHO I KNOW ITS A WATERED DOWN TRX... But I love the look at the TRX is way out of my price range. I use my 2019 ram that I have now as an everyday truck, and I feel the RHO fit me better. My question is, do you think they will deeply discount the RHO, and if so, when? I know you're busy, so if you can't respond, I get it. Either way, I enjoy your videos and appreciate your content.
