these are the remnants of the bhadraloke class. Descendants of those whose great grandmothers were graduates in the British era, regardless of caste. This class was fully involved with the independence movement era also. But rare really a few are remaining, rest are abroad. As rare as the Parsis in Mumbai. These people have no say in elections.
Why connect everything in political terms... aesthetic has its own language
It's a beautiful home. Speaks a lot about the tastes and likings of the owner. So not a run of the mill home done up by a paid interior designer. However, when I see homes like this with lots of knick knacks ,bric-a-brac stylishly strewn, the first thing that comes to my mind is maintaining those. If you leave it to the house help , you run the risk of damage. And if you have to do the dusting and polishing yourself every day or from time to time ......phew!!
These are the people who choose corrupt leaders who help sustain such a lifestyle .

Lovely lovely house. I love houses where one room leads to the other and then a small outdoor space etc. Beautifully decorated with lots of love. The balcony is done up with good taste.

One thing for sure.The Bengalis of West Bengal are absolutely attracted towards The literature of Rabindra nath Tagore and Rabindra Sangeet.I just cannot forget the soulful Rabindra Sangeet played in the Metro station when i regularly boarded the Metro from Jatin Das Park to Esplanade during my Calcutta visits.Even one goes thru the Statesman paper all the papers will have news on Literature and just a few lines in National news.

Your house is so beautiful, modest, and phenomenal as you are. Not a single piece looked out of place. You look so graceful in saree and full sleeves blouse, no vulgarity at all which is very common in Indian celebrities showing house tours wearing nickers and short skirts kissing dogs.
