I agree PES is the better game this year, it does come with it flaws but with more improvements that the fans has been asking for on the pitch. Ill stick with a company that listens to its fans instead of the sales department.
And for the ones who do not know, PES has an option file where you can get all the kits and correct names of team and also the leagues in the game, but this is only ON PS4 and PC, Xbox does not have this option.

Same old story. Pes offers a phenomenal experience on the pitch. Gameplay is unmatched. But the modes are shallow and yet again no mainstream review talks about it. Still poor freedom to create the team you want in my club. Still no reason to have sqaud depth in ML with minimal injuries and no player complaints if not played.

I never give a toss what the menus are like on any football game it’s on the pitch is where it matters & PES has been the top dog in that area since 2015 2020 is fantastic 👍
Decent review but one giant overlook is the fact that literally thousands of mods and graphics exist for PES and you can have all licensed names, kits, logos, faces, stadiums etc and its very easy to do once you see how its done because the game is made to be modded. Also they don't really dish out much GP in myclub but they released a lot of special version players too fast that's why people have great teams already.

EA's licences are in FIFA's favour because you have them from the very start. You do not need external sources to get more. It's the same with say, The WWE 2k games. 2k15 had a very small roster. Sure, you could download more from the user generated tab but it's not on the player to make the game acceptable. That is the developer's job. User Generated Content is a bonus, not the actual content
Not so in the early 2000s. PES was KING while FIFA lagged behind. PES 2004 was the greatest football game for that generation. Then FIFA made advancements in the tech with 07 that saw them leap ahead and never looked back since. PES 2020 can change that though.

I came back to PES this year after playing Fifa since 2014 but I also used the square button to shoot on Fifa because that's the way I got used to it playing old PES games on the PS2 😂.

Why no mention of the Ps4 and p.c ability to use option files and thereby gain all the licensed clubs, badges etc... Considering how, relatively, easy it is and that it's completely free, I'd think it was at least worth a mention. It's not illegal, so why the reticence?

You'll need access to a computer and you'll need a USB stick; as you'll transfer the info to the stick and you will plug the stick into your ps4/p.c. I'd never done it before, and with Google and a bit of patience it's very easy. They don't just have all the official leagues, but some have classic teams. In 2017 I had classic A.C Milan 88, with Gullit and co, I also had the Man Utd team of the 90s with Keane, Beckham etc... You can get international classics, like Argentina 86, Holland 78, England 66, and many others. It's worth the effort, mate.

Been enjoying PES2020 so much. Over 40 hours played... then I come to online play. Ages to find a match. Co-OP play so laggy that's it's nearly unplayable. Unfortunately now missing the online aspect of Fifa however PES master league over any offline fifa content. All day every day

@@DeegoL9 My friend, if you have PC or PS4, the option file gives you all the kits you need. It takes about 10 minutes if you know what you're doing. I used to play pes on Xbox and spend hours on the edit mode making my own kits! Anyway seeing is believing, i have seen Fifa gameplay and it looks really bad. Do the developers even watch the beautiful game?

For GTA they don't review the mods and say it adds to the fun (even though they do), they review just the base game. But I agree, if a potential consumer sees this and thinks ah the licensing is holding me back from buying it, they should get an option file and that issue goes away.

I am a PES fan and I really don't like EA, but I feel PES and FIFA are not treated fairly. It's PES actually that in the last few years has LESS innovations and changes then FIFA in my honest opinion, or at least as little as FIFA. Master League hasn't changed for quite some time now, and every year a game has something new and irritating like AI not crossing enough, or heading shoots being awful, absolutely idiotic negotiations in career mode, and similar...and both games advertise every year that "defending was improved", "players control the ball much better", "game is slower" etc...I feel for both games it's the same thing for quite a while now. Look at these things: Physics is crap in both games - in 2019 I would expect that to be amazing. Animations are unchanged for a few years now with a few new ones maybe Sliding tackles are much toned down to avoid physics collisions in both games. No stadium editor (old PES had it) No dedicated button for blocking the shot for example - a simple innovation Awful menus in PES - not changed Awful commentary in PES - not changed Annoying replay for everything in PES - not changed Awful highlights in PES - not changed I hope that with new gen consoles we actually get a next gen game. They are both riding old glory for quite a while now.
Imo I believe the game play in Pes is better this year but the game seems to be broken meaning it's full of bugs, just look at the demo compared to the full game ridiculous
PES is stuck in a time warp, is too simplistic. The defending is what Fifa used back in Fifa 11, it's way too automated, takes no skill. Everything about PES is just too easy, it does well with casual reviewers. Fifa has a lot more gameplay depth, it's the more difficult football game, that's why the reviewers hate on the game. I was top 100 player on previous PES games, but Fifa is years ahead and much the better game this year.
This year PES has the best gameplay on the pitch ever. I am not bothered by licensing, since you can download the kits, logos from internet, which is done by the community. What I miss in PES is the lack of focus on online game modes. When I want to play myclub online it takes ages to wait for the opponent. However I love master league so I am generally fine to play offline only :).
The best part of PES soccer 😍 The players and moving like real life I made 4 classic teams 🇧🇷🇦🇷🇫🇷🇮🇹 To night work on 🏴 .. memories with classic teams ⚽️🥅
Definitely forgot to mention how great Konami is with the community to improve the game with their updates. But I respect the verdict and you guys touched on everything perfectly.

I religiously got Fifa for my birthday for at least 10 years. I switched to PES 2020 and could not agree more with this review. I played more FUT than anyone should but I will never go back now.
FIFA will be dead when PES gets 99% of the license one day.... FIFA needs to up their game for FIFA 21 coz there isn't much of a difference from previous versions of FIFA for FIFA 20. PES wins in gameplay and graphics.
I’m a hardcore FIFA fan and I love taking shots at pes fans, but I have to admit, you guys have the better game. FIFA died when they implemented “Ultimate Team”. That’s their bread and butter. They don’t give a crap about improving the career mode or anything else, but Ultimate Team. I tip my hats to you guys.
Make way for the FIFA-killer. Ps:coming from a Loyal FIFA gamer since 2008. But it seems over the years. EA is not entirely loyal to their fans request and got rid of most of the fun aspect that makes FIFA great. Don’t get me wrong I do acknowledge the massive graphic transition on FIFA 17 but after that it’s just a mediocre overpriced patch.
Spent 30 hrs with PES2020 and Fifa20. Both are fantastic options but in the end PES has not made any changes and gets stale fast. "Realism vs Fun factor and Value" Review both again in a month you will see.

There's a significant difference between the demo and the release. The demo was far superior and altering it has demeaned just how right they had got it primarily.
Downloaded last night 😃. It is a great game so far. I have played 7 matches with 3 draws then 4 wins in a row. So far it’s an improvement on last year. I just hope it will not be ruined by scripting. I have seen a few on some occasions in the games I have played for and against but didn’t seem as prominent as last year.
Get all the updates from pes universe for the proper names, strips and leagues, and the classic team update is simply superb! With more being added all the time Been waiting for a decent pes since 2008 and have played fifa since then, pes 2020 could possibly be the best football game ever
Why nobody ever talk about the mode online division Where the more you gain promotion it forces u to use a small club just to accumulate enough points to avoid relegation or promotion
They really both feel like different games. FIFA feels like an intense rush of a soccer game, where PES feels like a slower more accurate simulation. Sometimes I want the rush of FIFA and other times I like to go through the motions with PES. With PES being slower, it's more tactical than exhilarating, though. I'll likely buy FIFA, but welcome this when it inevitably comes to Game Pass again in a few months.
Everything you said was true for offline gaming, if you're planning on playing this game online do yourself a favor and just download the demo and play 1v1 online, they change the physics and the timing in the full game, playing online is horrible, players don't release passes, and the game is too slow...

What I can say about Pes 2020 is that I find it hard to drag myself off it. "Just one more game". Havent done that with a footy game since Pes6.

Physics is crap in both games - in 2019 I would expect that to be amazing.
Animations are unchanged for a few years now with a few new ones maybe
Sliding tackles are much toned down to avoid physics collisions in both games.
No stadium editor (old PES had it)
No dedicated button for blocking the shot for example - a simple innovation
Awful menus in PES - not changed
Awful commentary in PES - not changed
Annoying replay for everything in PES - not changed
Awful highlights in PES - not changed
I hope that with new gen consoles we actually get a next gen game. They are both riding old glory for quite a while now.
Imo I believe the game play in Pes is better this year but the game seems to be broken meaning it's full of bugs, just look at the demo compared to the full game ridiculous
PES is stuck in a time warp, is too simplistic. The defending is what Fifa used back in Fifa 11, it's way too automated, takes no skill. Everything about PES is just too easy, it does well with casual reviewers. Fifa has a lot more gameplay depth, it's the more difficult football game, that's why the reviewers hate on the game. I was top 100 player on previous PES games, but Fifa is years ahead and much the better game this year.
People saying PES is better than FIFA are the same people that play FUT Champs every weekend
This year PES has the best gameplay on the pitch ever. I am not bothered by licensing, since you can download the kits, logos from internet, which is done by the community.
What I miss in PES is the lack of focus on online game modes. When I want to play myclub online it takes ages to wait for the opponent.
However I love master league so I am generally fine to play offline only :).
so very true... they change the name eFootball in order to focus more on online mode... maybe they could be the next esports... finger-crossed

if you have a problem with PES graphics, you can always mod it, for example; big jersey size....just download the mods and ur set...simple!!

Defo picking this up during the Christmas sales. I wish PES and Fifa could combine PES gameplay and FIFA overall presentation.
I'm a Fifa guy, but I have to say that pes have truly beaten Fifa when it comes to overall enjoyability. (I still would pick Fifa over pes anyday)

I religiously got Fifa for my birthday for at least 10 years. I switched to PES 2020 and could not agree more with this review. I played more FUT than anyone should but I will never go back now.
So PES is quality and FIFA quantity..
Then im going for PES this year ;) quality above quantity for me.

FIFA needs to up their game for FIFA 21 coz there isn't much of a difference from previous versions of FIFA for FIFA 20. PES wins in gameplay and graphics.
Option files is the way bro. Which system do you have? PS4/PC. Xbox is no due to Microsoft not allowing USB IMPORTS unfortunately
I’m a hardcore FIFA fan and I love taking shots at pes fans, but I have to admit, you guys have the better game. FIFA died when they implemented “Ultimate Team”. That’s their bread and butter. They don’t give a crap about improving the career mode or anything else, but Ultimate Team. I tip my hats to you guys.

Ps:coming from a Loyal FIFA gamer since 2008. But it seems over the years. EA is not entirely loyal to their fans request and got rid of most of the fun aspect that makes FIFA great. Don’t get me wrong I do acknowledge the massive graphic transition on FIFA 17 but after that it’s just a mediocre overpriced patch.
Spent 30 hrs with PES2020 and Fifa20. Both are fantastic options but in the end PES has not made any changes and gets stale fast. "Realism vs Fun factor and Value" Review both again in a month you will see.
The only thing I don't like about pes 2020 are the referees.Apart from that it's a brilliant football game.
Yeah, they can be extremely weird at times but I guess I like it somewhat after changing from FIFA. The unpredictability makes the game interesting

There's a significant difference between the demo and the release. The demo was far superior and altering it has demeaned just how right they had got it primarily.

Downloaded last night 😃. It is a great game so far. I have played 7 matches with 3 draws then 4 wins in a row. So far it’s an improvement on last year. I just hope it will not be ruined by scripting. I have seen a few on some occasions in the games I have played for and against but didn’t seem as prominent as last year.
If only Fifa had this gameplay, Fifa 12s career mode, and better graphics
Get all the updates from pes universe for the proper names, strips and leagues, and the classic team update is simply superb! With more being added all the time

Where the more you gain promotion it forces u to use a small club just to accumulate enough points to avoid relegation or promotion

They really both feel like different games. FIFA feels like an intense rush of a soccer game, where PES feels like a slower more accurate simulation. Sometimes I want the rush of FIFA and other times I like to go through the motions with PES. With PES being slower, it's more tactical than exhilarating, though. I'll likely buy FIFA, but welcome this when it inevitably comes to Game Pass again in a few months.

Everything you said was true for offline gaming, if you're planning on playing this game online do yourself a favor and just download the demo and play 1v1 online, they change the physics and the timing in the full game, playing online is horrible, players don't release passes, and the game is too slow...
