I always really liked that these strawhats episodes are paired by the oldest and newest crew members Zoro and Brook, Nami and Franky and so on. Now for One Piece at a time: It's little late but happy birthday to Ace and Oda both born on "double finger" or rather 1/1,and happy new year.
When I first read one piece I thought doublefinger was like bon kurei and just referring to some other japanese holiday. then i found out japanese ppl also had no idea what he meant by it and he had to explain it in an SBS lol
keep in mind: NONE of the sidestories thus far have had a 'conclusion'. Robin's stands out because its INCREDIBLY dark and depression in comparison, but the others didn't really end either. We don't know what Nami's gonna do, or how Franky's gonna fix himself without cola, or how chopper's gonna survive his ordeal, or Usopp's.
There does exist a bridge in reallife like this. It’s the Burma railway where in 2. World War Japan forced civilians to build it. And at least 90 thousand people died on it.
Robin's arc in Tequila Wolf is one of the few times where I wholly appreciate the anime expanding on the source material in a significant manner. Simply put, we see *FAR* too little of this place in the manga. Heck, that little girl who drew islands didn't even exist in the source material. I don't know if Oda came up with the expanded story here or not (AFAIK he doesn't have much involvement with the anime outside of some of the movies and a few filler character designs here and there), but if he didn't, then whoever writer was in charge here REALLY understood the original author's craft. 😉
Kinda wish they gave him one or two more cameos in Marineford but this is still better than nothing. A "fan letter"-esque OVA by Ishitani following him after the G8 arc would be so damn peak.
It would have been so funny if we got a scene of him shaking hands with Akainu since in the anime canon he is one of Akainu's favorites even though the characters are actually so far apart ideologically.

Surprisingly, rice porridge isn’t a thing in Japan. I did a Christmas lesson for jr high school students and they had never heard of it before. Japan treats rice as the center piece of the meal and always adds salt to it. The idea of adding sugar to it and making it a dessert is almost sacrilege.
