Just lovely, thank you for the video. The electronic charts are fun, I spent much of my time in the Sea of Cortez anchored on land and from time to time anchored on a mountain here and there. I was wondering why you were not on the fly bridge it looked so nice and then I heard "yep it is blowing 18 knots". LOL All the best
We’ve been hanging out up there during the day, even when it’s windy because you can sit with your back to the flybridge and the wind but until just a day or two ago it really hasn’t been warm enough to cruise from up there. So this afternoon it’s 86° in the Anchorage, but again quite windy.
We haven’t explored everywhere but we haven’t seen the store or anything yet but I think there may be a small one on shore. I also understand it’s about a 30 minute taxi ride to the town Mulahay to the north where supplies would be available
I noticed in one or more of your videos that you use the dual headphone model of communicators for husband-to-wife communications while anchoring, docking, etc. We've never had any, but i seems like a good idea as we want to expand our cruising. We tried iPhone to iPhone and that just didn't work even with several attempts. Did you ever consider or use the single headphone model? If so are there plusses or minuses of a single headphone version? The only reason I ask is I wonder if there is some value in having an uncovered ear to better catch surrounding sounds. Thanks for always responding to my questions. Rob
Rob, There is a bunch of info on our website under the "stuff we love" heading. We have a set of single ear units as well. We both like the double. You can still hear other noise around the boat and it's easier to understand the person you are talking to, but mostly, the single ear one's are not a secure on your head - and yes, I have knocked one off my head and into the water. Hope that helps, Jim
Would you possibly be able to share any insurance restrictions for cyclone season, please? Does Puerto Escondido play a part in managing storm season OR hot weather? THANK YOU
We have to be north of Cabo from June 1st to November 1st, which is really nice. Many insurance companies require you be north of the 27th parallel, which is even north of Puerto Escondido. Also, if the boat is damaged by a named store our deductible goes from $8,000 to $35,000. When we are not on the boat in Puerto Escondido we will pay them extra to clean the bottom every 2 weeks and clean the topsides once a month. We just spend a few days there and were told by other cruisers and saw it ourselves as well - they have staff that walk the docks and check on all the boats about every 4 hours around the clock. We are going to keep Sea Venture in the water to help with all the heat - it's a lot more expensive of an option, but we think is best. (we have actually committed to a slip in Puerto Escondido through the end of 2024). They are in such high demand you can not reasonably expect to have a space just for the summer for a boat Sea Venture's size. Hope that helps, Jim
@@CruisingSeaVenture That may be true. Six months ago 5 Americans crossed into Mexico. Two were killed the rest were released. The local gang leader beat and tied up the gang members and left them in the back of a truck. Tagged with a sign these are the killers; we do not kill innocents. It's not good business anymore to shake down tourists! They don't want to anger Americans or the Federales.
Those are some beautiful mornings
Looking forward to your exploration at this anchorage !

Lekker man lekker 🇿🇦
No fish caught yet? We are rooting for you!
Not really trying very hard - besides, it's fun to buy them from the local Pangas. Thanks, Jim
You’ll get em. You have the right stuff and your cruise speed is just right for dorado, tuna and wahoo.
Thank you for the video. What was the name of the Diesel Duck please?
Traveler - been based in Puerto Escondido for a few years. Thanks, Jim
If you're trying to catch a fish that way he'd have to be a pretty fast fish.
Yea, it's very different than say, salmon fishing. Everyone down here says 6 to 7 knots is the correct speed. Thanks for watching, Jim
Good food supplies available there?

Any crabbing, clamming, or shrimp in these sheltered bays?
No, just fishing. Thanks, Jim

Fortunately the gangs are leaving the (innocents) tourists alone these days.
We’ve always felt very safe in Mexico. In fact, much safer in Mexico than many places in the United States.
