    Pierre Jalbert (who played Caje on "Combat!") was the one-time "mission specialist" in this episode - the team member shown with the rap sheet. They used his expertise in robbing banks to con the James Daly character with convincingly authentic misdirection. That was a recurring motif about the show I always loved - they rarely had to force their way into the inner circle - they conned their targets into inviting them in.

    The photos that Phelps "rejects" are of writers and producers of the show. A little inside joke they slipped in.

    • @wmbrown6
      @wmbrown6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wasn't Bruce Geller himself one of the "agents" Briggs or Phelps "rejected" given the B&W photo representation?
      In the two-part "Council" episode, apparently the naming of Syndicate boss Frank Wayne may've been an in-joke of some kind - the real-life Wayne was a producer with Goodson-Todman, who was executive producer of their "Password" series at the time Barbara Bain and Brian Keith did a week's episodes of that show prior to the premieres of both their respective shows - "Mission," and "Family Affair."

      @@MrEab2010 - Not that I heard. Also, by the time Graves was cast, Ms. Ball was in the process of selling Desilu to Gulf+Western, which turned it into Paramount Television. It was largely CBS's idea to cast Graves, and Bruce Geller and then-executive in charge of production, Herbert Solow, agreed and went along. Incidentally, in 1966 Graves made a pilot that didn't sell called "Call to Danger," which had a bit of elements in it that would turn up in "M:I" during his six years with the series. (He would make another shot of that pilot after "M:I" left the air in 1973 - with the same results: no sale.)
