This soundtrack takes me back to my late uncle who wanted to set up a Mexican or Caribbean restaurant...he went all over Cuba, Mexico, and the Americas learning and loving the cuisine from all the different nations. When I visited his house I could hear Putumayo playing in the lounge and smell his amazing food cooking in the kitchen. Wonderful times.
I'm a white European dude with basically no connections to Africa or Latin America. Unlike other people in these comments, I don't get nostalgic because I never heard anything like that in my childhood. I discovered this channel by accident, in fact. But those albums ("Congo to Cuba" too, and others) are something else. This music is a perfect mix of African and Latin American, completely live, very moving (makes you wanna dance) but also is the only one which I can do my homework listening to. There's nothing like Latin percussion, especially Afro Cuban percussion.

Swede with some German roots. Grew up in a pretty international town. When I used to work in a record shop back in 2000 something, Putumayo were playing there all the time. What amazed me was how great the selection of music was. Like the people who worked with the records really choose the right songs. I get nostalgic not because of my heritage but the wonderful moments that this music gave me.
