When We Were Young was originally recorded by Adele in 2015. The song was released as the second single from her 2015 album: 25. The song was written by Adele and Tobias Jesso Jr. It was produced by Ariel Rechtshaid. It peaked at #6 on the AC chart and #14 on the Hot 100. The single was certified Platinum in the US. The music video was directed by Paul Dugdale and filmed at at London's Church Studios where Adele recorded most of her album: 25.
On January 21, 2015, Adele offered her first Tweet of the year when she shared a link to Vancouver singer and songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr's song: "How Could You Babe", adding: "This is fantastic, click away."
Adele later flew to Los Angeles to meet up with Tobias Jesso Jr and the pair wrote this piano ballad together on American composer Philip Glass' piano. She recalled to NME: "It turned out he was a really big fan of mine - and he totally kept his cool together, being thrown in the deep end, for our first co-writing session... His grandparents were friends with Philip Glass, and Tobias had inherited Philip Glass's old piano. We wrote our song, 'When We Were Young,' on that piano".
Adele told the story behind the song during a SiriusXM interview. "It was based on us being older, and being at a party at this house, and seeing everyone that you've ever fallen out with, everyone that you've ever loved, everyone that you've never loved, and stuff like that, where you can't find the time to be in each other lives", she explained. "And you're all thrown together at this party when you're like 50, and it doesn't matter and you have so much fun and you feel like you're 15 again. So that's the vibe of it really".

Gabriel Henrique was born on January 7, 1996 in Brazil. He is a singer and performer. He has the vocal range of a leggero tenor, and he can perform whistle register, a vocal technique that was made well known by the singer Mariah Carey. He gained worldwide fame when he performed on the television talent show America's Got Talent. He has over 700,000 followers on TikTok. His videos have amassed over 7.2 million likes. On Instagram, Gabriel has over 673,000 followers. His TH-cam channel has over 572,000 subscribers. His cover of Whitney Houston’s song: “I Have Nothing”, has over 4 million views.
He started singing at home when he was 3 years old. As a child, he performed on Brazilian programs including: Raul Gil and Xuxa. Throughout his life, Gabriel Henrique performed in churches and events with his band, made up of his father, Lúcio (guitar/guitar), his brother Raphael (bass) and his friend Fabrício (drums).
But it was only when he reached adulthood that he became better known through the social network TH-cam, where he began recording videos singing songs by singers such as Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Bruno Mars, Anderson Freire, Aline Barros among many others. In 2022, the reality production team of America's Got Talent sent a message to Gabriel Henrique to have his presence in an edition of the program. He didn't accept the invitation at first, because as he isn't fluent in English he was embarrassed to introduce himself, and also because he was very shy. In 2023, he decided to accept the invitation at the insistence of his mother, who managed to get the singer to participate. The episode, which aired on August 1, 2023, was recorded in April 2023. Gabriel Henrique, as he was not yet fluent in English, spoke to the jurors with the help of an interpreter.
Gabriel Henrique's Semifinals performance in Episode 1818 consisted of singing Jacob Banks' song: "Something Beautiful". Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell all gave him standing ovations. He received enough votes to enter the top 5 of the night in Episode 1819 along with Ramadhani Brothers instead of Lachuné, and the top 3 instead of Eduardo Antonio Trevino and Avantgardey. He finished in 3rd place behind 82nd Airborne Chorus and Ramadhani Brothers, eliminating him from the competition. Gabriel Henrique was nominated by Sofia Vergara for the Instant Save Wild Card vote, but did not receive enough votes to return as the 11th finalist.
