Shabani will always protect Annie... Annie and Nene never got along even though she’s Annie grandmother. Shabani knows that AI wasn’t much of a mother to her and he had to step up as a parent figure to Annie.

7:35 When Annie teased and pushed Nene to chase her, Kiyo immediately ran to protect his mother. He chased after Annie (very fast and dexterous, Kiyo can't keep up) and then returned to Nene and calmed her down. Good boy, good job, daddy will be proud. And right there you can see how Shabani ran after them. He looked up, and as soon as Annie noticed him, she immediately sat down modestly in the corner and began to examine her elbow ("I am not doing anything, la-la-la.") Or pretending to hit. In any case, Shabani then returned to his daughter to check if she was okay. Annie can do anything, but Shabani will always protect her. Daddy's little princess.
Kiyo protecting his mom from Annie's playful antics, I hardly see kiyo protect his mom from Annie's playful antics, except to protect her from Shabani. Kiyo was so funny after he chased Annie and he hung upside down from the ropes. Love Shabani, such a good dad. For being 48, Nene is sure agile, she is spunky and feisty too, gotta love her. Nene and Biddy are two of my fave oldies but goodies.

took long enough for shabani to scold annie for her bad behaviour. he gave her "the dad look". she is a bully to nene and i think it's her way to get revenge on her grandma for being so mean to her when she was little.
Can't say I blame her. I suppose these spats are just like humans arguing, but being animals they can't speak, so it's physical.

At first I thought Annie was in training to be the alpha female& that's why Shabani let her& Nene work it out 4 themselves.then it looked like Shabani was training Kiyomasa to be the silverback that stops the arguments& brings peace to the family.both kids are growing up.the tide has turned& like us-They don't like change.interesting dynamics brewing!😉🐵🌻💛
@MrTm81 -from what I have read& learned is once the male gorillas become a blackback[Think around 10-12]They usually challenge the silverback& then they are moved out to another troop to breed or they go to a bachelors group of males.so Kiyomasa will not stay there.
@MrTm81 -I love Nene too.i have nicknames for some of them.i call Nene Granny& Kiyomasa Duckie b/c of his flapping out to the side feet!Nene was grabbed out of the jungles of Gabon.how sad& scare but how amazing what she has gone thru.i Bosch i told me b/c they don't even know her birth date-They celebrate her birthday on Jan 1st!!!Just love Nene too.have a lovely day!do you follow Lope the rascal in the UK by Slogger Vlogger? @MrTm81 I think you are talking about San Diego Safari. Winston is the silverback of the group. Frank is a blackback and the zoo's plan is to separate him with Monroe (Winston's son) to create a bachelor group. It should happen sooner than later.

@@cassiecarey1 Annie is very young and won't be leaving this group for a long time, she does have Shabani to protect her but she is learning how to stand up for herself against Nene who has never been friendly with Annie.

@@cassiecarey1 you need to watch the gorilla family from when Annie was born, Nene tried to get at Annie and hurt her many times, luckily Shabani was there to protect her then, when you have a better understanding of this group I'd love to chat more.

When Annie starts she is relentless. I see where she wants Nene acceptance but Nene does not reciprocate. It's really sad for both. Nene is too old to be putting up with Annie's warranted retaliation.

They may not be able to talk but you can tell they have an entire 'language' hidden in their physical expressions. If I were studying gorillas I'd definitely be trying to figure that language out as there are so many reactions that can be confusing due to how subtle the physical expressions can be. They can get irritated by things that barely register to me.
Annie and Nene’s relationship has it’s rotten roots in the past.
Annie is being mean to Nene but who would blame her. Nene treated Annie badly when she was young, weak and unsure of her position within the troop. This is a very complicated situation.
Shabani is such a great silverback, a true leader. He knows exactly what he should do to right the mess.

@@cassiecarey1 I don't think it's that simple. Nene did try to kill Annie when she was little and if it wasn't for Shabani Nene would have succeeded. I think when Annie was little he let Annie away with a lot. I think he did the right thing, if it wasn't for Shabani and Kiyo Annie would have NEVER felt any love or acceptance !! It was Shabani that went to the bars to baby Annie not her mother or grandmother DAD !! Now that Annie is older I think she should be taught the hierarchy, and gorilla etiquette(so to speak) only because she will need it when she is older. AND how do you respect an adult that tried to kill you etc when you were little?! Do I think Annie has been a brat since she has gotten older YES ! But I think Shabani did the best he could as basically a single parent to the baby girl the best way he could. At the old enclosure Shabani used to be mean to Nene some time she deserved it and sometimes she didn't. But he is hands down a great dad. I still love them all for the different characters they are❤❤🦍🦍

Annie is a problem for Nene who is the dominant female.
This is when Shabani should discipline Annie but I think your right it's payback time for all that Nene has done to her.
Shabani doesn't beat up Nene like he use to anymore. He knows she is old and that she cannot hurt Annie anymore. Annie just wants to irritate Nene. Makes her feel good I suppose. And Kiyo makes sure that Annie doesn't go overboard. If you would notice, Shabani just watches and doesn't do much in protecting Annie anymore. She is really fast. Not even Kiyo can catch her.
Annie is always bullying Nene but Shabani punishes Nene instead. 😔
if you see in many of the old videos, you can sometimes see Nene tackle Annie sometimes. this is probably payback, or its her learning how to be alpha

Club Corifeo nene beat the crap out of Annie when Annie was young. Daddy had to groom Annie and protect her from the females in this group.
