I know these Aero L-29 Delfin trainer aircraft well. I own and fly one that came from Romanian Air Force. These in Ukraine are now junk because they were not properly stored. They are not worth fixing or the cost of shipping them. Maybe a few useful parts but not much. When stored outside they have to be covered by a tarp or rain and snow comes in around the canopies. The rubber seals around the canopies cannot be kept full of nitrogen in storage, so they are not sealed. The water collects in the bottom and rots the wiring, electrical power inverters, and all of the hydraulic and nitrogen lines. Eventually the bottom of the aircraft rots. The moisture also ruins all of the instruments and electrical equipment in the cockpits. The sun has ruined all of the plastic canopies and windscreens. No new canopies or windscreens are available. Making new canopies and windscreens is possible but too expensive. All of the engines in these will be bad from sitting outside for over 20 years. There are about 100 L-29s in the USA and a flying one in good condition costs about $40,000. Sometimes one can be bought for much less if it needs some work. They are a real bargain except for the almost 200 gallons per hour fuel burn. Some people change the stock engine to a more powerful Rolls-Royce Viper engine or Pratt&Whitney JT-12 for air racing. A L-29 with JT-12 won the 2019 Reno Air Races jet class. Check out my youtube video "Rick's jet flight in L-29 Viper powered jet", flying in a friend's Viper powered L-29. Mine will get a Viper engine soon.

When I see jets parked like this I think of all the mechanics and crew chiefs who worked countless long hours to keep them safely flying. Now the thing they took pride in sits rotting and forgotten. It's sad. Hopefully a few of them will fly again some day.

dave791 the jets just can't keep up with the fast pacing technology. They got decommissioned and replaced with new ones. Few of them got restored and able to fly again but again, stored in a museum with proper maintenance.

@@armouredkawaii6248 "While newer versions are now replacing older L-39s in service, thousands remain in active service as trainers, and many are finding new homes with private warbird owners all over the world. It has been claimed that the L-39's desirability stems from the fact that it is "the only available second-generation jet trainer".[23] This trend is particularly evident in the United States, where their $200,000-$300,000 price puts them in range of moderately wealthy pilots looking for a fast, agile personal jet." its one of the most desired small jets in the US.

Great episode! I fear for the day when you don't have any back content left to show us, for obvious reasons. What an awful time to be alive, thank you for what you do for us while confined, fearing the very worst...

Don’t worry! I’ve got 250.000 pictures and a lot of shitty video footage. So much stories left to tell😀 working on epic places where I went many years ago without filming the complete adventure

Some collectors would be interested in getting one of those jets or holicoptors. I think USA has way more of old junk parked in thousands in deserts.
