- I have had a couple of requests for a video on how to do the leaf from Ruth Scharf's Tischband so here it is. I hope there are still some of you working on this so it is useful.
This is a bit longer than my other videos but I tried to cover all the possible difficult bits of the pattern. I only regret having used a variegated thread for this video as the stitches are a little less clear. Lesson learnt for the next one!
Dear Frivole, once again thank you so much for sharing. This is a wonderful video. I've been wanting to try this with needle tatting, and I am so glad you posted this one. I will share with you a picture when I finish tatting a leaf.
Thank you Laura, I hope you can convert it for needle easily enough.
Thank you so much for making this video! It was very helpful and easy to follow. I can't wait to learn more from you!
+Nani Blyleven Thank you for your comment Nani, I'm glad if it was helpful. Best wishes with your tatting!
I can’t wait to try this! Great video!
You are unbelievably talented!
Thank you so much Tina! :-)
This is a wonderful video thank you so much for sharing.
I think I get it now! I was on the right track, just needed an extra boost, and you've given me that. Thank you so very much! Now, where did I put my Leafy Greens thread?
Thank you for sharing, I am still learning tatting and have just been able to use the shuttle, slowly to be sure, but I can do it now!! I was able to make Tatterbug's cute little owl successfully. I first learned needle tatting. Your shuttles are so pretty, where do you get them from?? Now I can also do cro-tat!!! Please keep your videos coming, they are so clear and helpful to us learners, thank you!
Very helpful. Thank you so much. I can't wait to try this myseld.
Thank you for your comment Barbara! :-)
thank you so much for posting this video~ i'm going to try a leaf, now ! :)
Hi Garliclover, glad you're enjoying learning tatting - I too have made Tattabugg's owl, a nice little pattern. I'd like to try cro-tatting but the hooks are very difficult to find! The shuttles are from La Cossette (3w.etsy.com/shop/lacossette). Happy tatting!
Gorgeous
Классный лепесток..благодарим за мастер класс..
You're welcome! Thank you for your comment. :-)
You're welcome! :-)
thank you
Hello
I have a question, How do you block your tatting when finished??
Thanks
Hi Noni, I like to press my tatting lightly, under a layer of cloth (cotton) with a steaming iron.
Hi, thanks for the reply.
I shall try it.
what is that instrument and where do you buy them? looks very difficult.
Hi Gale, it's a tatting shuttle and you can find them from needlecraft shops or online. This pattern is perhaps a little complicated than some but there are many simpler designs to get you started. :-)
UGH
IS THAT THE WHOLE LEAF WITH THIS VIDEO??????
IF SO I AM SO LOST ITS NOT FUNNY...
I AM DYSLEXIC AN I DONT KNOW HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE WATCHED THIS AN LOOKED AT THAT PIC OF HOW IT LOOKS ON PAPER AN THE 2 ARE NOT MATCHING UP AT ALL FOR ME......
;..........(
I GUESS I NEED MORE HELP SORRY....
BLESSINGS & BE HOPE FILLED
FRANKI
Hi Franki, no, it's not the whole leaf with this video. I'm sorry you're frustrated. I showed how to start and how the leaf is constructed and then there are more rows to get to the full width of the leaf. Unfortunately, this is one of my old videos (2012) which originally had annotations on it to explain what I am doing - but TH-cam has now removed annotations and since there never was sound on this one, I guess it's now just a silent demonstration. Perhaps I should remove it altogether? I made it at the time when lots of tatters were working this pattern. Maybe I should remake a video eventually for it but it's quite a long one as there is lots going on in this leaf. I hope you still get "some help" from this video which shows how to get started with the chain and how it's folded back onto itself and how you then have to push the stitches apart to join between them on subsequent rows.
