I have three planets in the 12th house - Jupiter , rahu, and sun. And, I think Asto ma, sadgamya, tamso ma, jyotir gamya, mrityor ma, amrutam gamya makes a personalized mantra for these placements.
12th house is illusion and jupiter is truth - so jupiter being in 12th brings the truth in illusion
12th house is darkness and sun is light - so sun in 12th brings light even in darkness
12th house is of mrutyu and rahu drunk the nectar of immortality - so rahu in 12th becomes a savior
basically the whole meaning of this mantra is reflected here .
