Things didn't go according to plan, but through that experience it became an important life lesson. New friends were made, and plans for the future are being discussed. Craic show was definitely the highlight of the whole experience. They are always wonderful to see!

So fun to see your time at the colorado ren faire, I'm glad you made it despite all the problems! It's been a month since I was there for the first time and miss it still (especially miss the mead 🥲) The Craic Show was my favorite part. The energy that show brings with people gathering, cheering, and dancing together is so AMAZING to experience in person and the band LOVES what they do, you can just tell! I'll be tuned in here for the haul video! ✨

I'm glad you got to make it and have fun after all! I can relate to the Ren Faire car troubles. On the way back to Wisconsin from the Minnesota faire, my car broke down on the highway and we were stranded in Ren garb at a kwik trip (a Midwestern gas station). I laid on their lawn and cried until help came. 😭 Sending you hugs and wishes that such a thing never happens to y'all again 🤗🙏✨
It’s so fun to see what different people’s experiences of the fair are. As a performer there I only see what I see, and it’s so fun to get to see what visitors see!
So sorry to hear your trip was so stressful, but you guys made it and had a good time. Imagine, our government wants to force every single person to drive an EV. That will definitely be a crazy time. 🍄
Yeah and all the places to charge don’t work so it’s difficult since their range is so bad. The miles you have drop so quick. When we left the driveway that morning we had 60 miles but by the end of the driveway it went down to 53 and we had only gone a few yards. Wild! I learned though that the charging stations may have been tampered with, there is a problem where people are stealing copper wire or something, from what I was told (at least that’s happening in LA).
The music at these events is soooo awesome ❤Glad u guys eventually made it, that situation was massively sucky! I wish we had Ren Faire in the UK, I dont think we do?! I was also thinking about how much joy the band clearly gives people and I would love to see them. This video put a smile on my face and seeing everyone having the best time boosted my mood.

Reminds me of the concerts Nor Cal Ren Faire used to have on Saturdays at the end of the day - so much fun with the crowd, totally get what you meant. And I vote yes for a haul video!

As someone who owns an electric car, it took us a couple trips before we came to expect half the charging stations to work. We love our car for short trips, but I usually take my gas car for anything real long and time sensitive. So sorry your first day has such a crappy start!

I totally relate with the car troubles. My battery went dead after I left my lights on when I attended the Casa De Frutas Ren Faire in the early 2000s. A lady on a horse showed up and was able to help me jump start my car 😂

On behalf of Coloradoans everywhere, I’m sorry for your bad experiences with the electric car. There used to be a ton of charging stations - even in Greeley, you used to be able to go to the public libraries and find charging stations in the parking lot. Now, the only public charging station I know of in Greeley that works is on the university campus, and you need a permit sticker to park there. 😢
There aren't that many places to charge, but Walgreens typically has chargers. In more populated places, there's a Walgreens on a corner of nearly every neighborhood. Maybe not in a place like Larkspur, though.
We were staying in Colorado Springs and we went to about 10-12 different charging stations on the charger tracking app and all of them were out of order or gave us errors. We stayed in Castle Rock last year and didn’t have as much of an issue though it was still inconvenient.

Never ever ever go budget do you know that they actually check your credit before they let you have a car… bet you didn’t know that but yeah, Always go enterprise and you get points so you build up those points to a free rental. I actually had to rent with enterprise for an entire year out of my own pocket And I’ve never had anything but fantastic customer service always enterprise nobody else!!!!
Yeah we learned after the fact from hearing several people’s horror stories to never go with them. We did Hurtz last year and it was such a better experience. It seems anything is better than Budget. When we returned the 2nd car to the airport location it was still off the walls crazy town there. So many people waiting and like 3 employees, 5 at most. It seems they’re not well managed at all. Also we think they were withholding gas cars they had in the lot to pressure people into doing electric. Purposely making us wait longer. We specifically reserved a VW sedan because we own one and wanted a similar car to our home car but nooooo they wanted to push the EV. Kinda wish we had waited the extra hour and held out😭 but then again I wouldn’t have had that epiphany at the Craic show. 🍋

We were able to exchange it the next day for a gas car at another location closer to where we’re staying - as for a refund we are still working on that… they’re giving us the run around 😖 they already charged the full amount to my credit card…

Well the problem you had with the electric car, and charging is simply you have to understand USA is very behind other parts of the west in regards of electric car technology and society implantation. The village I live in here in northern Sweden has a pop of 300 people. And at the end of our apt block there is 5 charging stations just for the people that live in our apts. And if you go to the next few towns about 15 mins drive from here chargers are everywhere, like in the next town that has 25k people roughly you can not walk more than 5ms without finding a charging station. The ones for where you live are free as a resident it is included. The ones in town you do pay for but it is not much.
Especially Colorado as I have lived there and it is a very intolerant, conservative and backwards state.
We are not intolerant nor conservative. I suspect you must’ve lived in the Springs during the Focus on the Family era but the majority of the people here in Colorado are very nice, friendly, and open minded (- we have a gay governor and legalized marijuana). We are also very progressive and have taken great strides towards future developments.
I’m sorry there weren’t enough charging stations or even working stations. We do actually have a lot around town: at shopping malls, restaurants, universities, and other public facilities. While I can’t say they are all operating, I do know personally people who use them daily. That being said, I still wouldn’t recommend renting an EV here simply because you are here on vacation, not to find EV charging stations. We are not at that level yet where they are ubiquitous. And that should not be a burden on any vacationer.

Makes me really miss folk metal shows :( last ones were in April when I got to see like so many back to back at various shows between fintroll, korpiklaani, tyr, dread crew of Oddwood, visions of Atlantis, alestorm. Month before was 2 back to back dreadnoughts shows then saw wind rose the next month. I hope some more get announced soon, waiting for eluveitie and ye banished privateers at some point.

@@DressMeUpScotty I went on a trip with my sister one time in her Tesla. What an ordeal! When you stop to charge they only let you charge enough to the next charging station. We were driving from NC to Ohio to see our dad. Usually takes 6 hours. Took forever because each charge is 30 minutes. It was a freakin nightmare!!

You look like you had fun, you and your hubby and his bro. But this Ren Fest looks awful! Did they have any food from Renaissance countries? Or have any shows or anything showing the culture of the countries at all? A few of the shops, venders looked good but it mostly looked like mass produced generic things. I do not know, it seems like Ren or Medieval festivals have become rather watered down and lost any culture over there.
