This is powerful and effective. Thanks for this. Also a great training drill in this. If you don't mind, how can I train in uchikomi without a partner? ☺
Thank you for your comment. It is an effective and powerful throw. Our athletes have used it with success for quite some time. I recommend doing a lot of thigh lift movements in the gym. There is a video on this on our channel. On the mat, the best way to practice is to lean against a wall or even lightly grip a partner and go through the steps without making a lot of contact or throwing him. When you do your actual sweeping/lifting movement with your attacking leg, swing it by and in front of your partner. Hope I explained this well. But this is a good drill to practice this on the mat. However, doing a lot of thigh lifts in the gym really helps. Like I said, look for our video on this here on our channel.
+Nico Contreras The major thing that throws your opponent is the movement that enables you to sweep harder with the thigh. The thigh sweep and lift action is also a major part of the throw and this movement is generated by a good side movement with your feet in a similar way to Okuri Ashi Barai. The lapel and belt lift help in the throw but are not a major part of the initial action. I hope this is clear enough of an explanation, but it may not be. I think the best way to approach doing this throw is in the same way you do an Okuri Ashi Barai with a fast tempo.
+welcomematstevescott Yeah well , only thing I see different to okuri is that I have to be closer to use my thigh but I will try it with a different grip, for Judo I would keep the belt grip but maybe a back grip instead of crposs lapel.
I think you might mean grip. The grip used for some of these throws is a strong back grip, not necessarily what is often called the "Georgian Grip." Hope this helps.
You know how sometime people stay up 2, 3 or 4am watching food shows on TH-cam. I stayup late and watch Judo Stuff.
Domo Arigato Sensei
I know what you mean Anthony. I enjoy watching sumo and Mongolian wrestling on TH-cam.
These are really great techniques being preserved...
Thank you.

+Nico Contreras You are correct. The back grip will be useful for this throw.
+welcomematstevescott Thank´s , I´ll work on it and the leg movement...
