Yeah! Same. My brain doesn’t ’shut off’ or remain ‘passive.’ It’s not like I can clock out from it. Great point.

We also have both STR and LTR and one advantage for me of the STR is that it’s just more fun to design and manage it than the LTR and both are more interesting than our stocks. That may be a drawback for anyone who just wants to collect checks though. Also luck plays a role since our LTR has had so many more maintenance issues than the STR.

Great video. I purchased 2 identical homes in the same neighborhood and turned one into a LTR and the other into a STR. Your analysis is spot on. I make more on the STR, but the LTR offers fewer headaches. As I move to retirement, I like the passive nature and predictability of the LTR.

I'm a North Dakota neighbor! STRs are nice because they allow me to BRRRR more houses. Since real estate is my full time thing, stock market doesn’t come close. One thing I'll add is systems. Many things are time intensive to start, until you get systems in place, then your time and expenses are greatly reduced. This applies to folks that accumulate more than just one or two tho. Gotta treat it like a business. So much nuance you could dive deep into, but this is a great surface level discussion! Love your videos!

Hi neighbor! Great perspective of how things can look as skills level up and systems are built. So true about treating it like a business.

I like the STR and the funds. Ive been a landlord before n swear I will never be one again. The experience just put me off it n I have not heard anyone who has a good experience either. I like the security and system of airbnb which I am only now learning, although Im leaning towards arbitrage for less risk. Thanks for another great and helpful video! 😊

That’s excellent perspective. I heard this from a colleague (from healthcare) as well!

Nice video. I've had a LTR. Made money but hated dealing with tenants. Sold it. I'm now considering a STR in a vacation hot spot. I will be hiring a management co to handle things. The fee is worth my time and mental space. If I do another LTR I will use a property manager for that too.

Property manager would definitely put a layer between you and the tenants or guests! I hope you find something that works out well ❤️

Thank you for sharing your investment details. As a long term investor and operator and owes around 20 units, I am always curious about short-term Airbnb. Your first beach house appreciation is a lot (over $200k). Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work.

Excellent take on compatison between various options 🙌
Superb informative for those are venturing into the rental business 👍
And when your video is based on your experience, it makes a lot of sense as well 🙏🙏🙏

I am with you. the important thing is to diversify. I started with the market index fund and long-term rental soon followed. I am now considering a short-term rental out of state but is concerned about the headache of managing it remotely. would love to hear how you do that without hiring a property manager. Thanks

Bleach on washer & dryer: bleach oxidizes steel, making it easier to rust.

As in rental arbitrage? I’m not a fan of the strategy for myself so don’t have experience doing it

Just bought a property and closing in 2 weeks. I still can't make up my mind on short or long term. I'm willing to put in time and accept the extra headache for more cashflow since this is my first investment property i just don't want to fail. The question is, how do i realistically analyze the str income for my property or doni take the safe route and put this in ltr?

Hello, very nice videos and channel, thank you very much! I am writing from Kazakhstan. What applications do you recommend to avoid overbooking and communicate with the cleaning team? so that they receive an automatic message about what time and what needs to be cleaned?

How is your cash flow in your STRs vs LTRs?

    • @lydiapatelll
      @lydiapatelll  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Same absolute number so better cash on cash return (%wise) for LTR
Felt it’s more a result of different markets (high appreciation low cash flow market of my STR, vs opposite for LTR market)
