Nah, the text basically said they became "strong and fire resistant" I figured some sort of bio-plasma cannon akin to a flower taking in solar energy and firing it back out made for a more entertaining defense
this makes me wonder if all the Precursors have a rift. the Baol is one of the most tragic ones from the bunch but imagine we could meet with the Irassians, the Vultaum or the Yuth, their fall wasnt due to an external force but from their society failing to deal with something we could very well fix, the Irassians needed genetic modification to not die from sickness, the Vultaum just needed some guidance on how to ascend instead of commiting mass unliving on themselves, the Yuth became wary of other aliens due to thousands of years of not finding anyone around them.
This is so cool! As much as it would be a pain in the ass, it'd be even cooler if there were events like this that somehow allow you to change the actual current game with time travel shenanigans. Say you help the Baol win or survive, then go back to current time, and there is now a Baol FE on the map, possibly taking the place of another empire that was there already? Weird ideas aside, thanks for covering these events, King! Definitely helps me decide whether or not to buy the dlc right away or to wait.
I tend to play xenophilic empires that grants citizenship to most species that arrive to our borders. But sometimes when I get the Baol and bring them back, I will lower most other species simply to Residents to have an empire of two species on top and the rest below. Either that on the rare case I am playing despotic barbarians I will use them as cattle
@@TheRedKing It'd probably be rough for Oakenstalk since they're a hivemind, high fiveing the trapped one and being plugged into genocide simulator and then a couple thousand years of 'I have no mouth and I must screm.'
I was very happy when I found that and stopped all I was doing in the galaxy to focus on helping them. I personally took their seedlings back with me. Not wanting to corrupt them and also not trusting cloaking tech as being a good solution
@@TheRedKingI got it within my first 10. My species being broken shackles it was kinda a no brainer to immediately help them. Been trying to keep the unshackled achievement. I legit HAVE to cheese it and it bugs me. Just banning slavery doesn't work. I have to specifically root out all empires & pre-ftls that allow it then ban it. Trying to do that in a normal match is almost impossible
@@TheRedKing I used 3 different mega structures + my own standing to get a little over 450k power in the community, banned slavery completely. Achievement didn't pop because slavery does still exist. Granted every single empire including my vassals were now in breach of galactic law. I'm at 80% of achievements. Hate how I need to google more then a few to actually figure out what it even is
I think I already said this in a previous video but I absolutely love roleplaying as the Baol I feel like out of all the precursors they have the most personality

Yesterday I got the baol from a rift during my playthrough of a spiritual,xenophobe, authoritarian imperium of man esque empire. They are the only xeno species that don't have indentured servitude but unfortunately they all went to a planet under siege by the sentinels, pray to the empress they are saved by my psionic army and don't have to bombard alpha prime any further🙏👸
that a surprise that there still around 😳 last we check the baol was already extinct 🤔. unfortunately lorewise i think the baol here is not the baol on the players (an alternate reality perhaps 🤔). althought the baol was saved in the astral rift , the baol in the players timeline remain extinct 🤔
Objection: Baol in players timeline can be ressurected. Of course i re-create them by image and example of humans, so they are kinda a separate species from original baol, but still.
i came across this rift and had to get off right as i entered it. then you drop a video on it the next day right before i logged back in.. im curious what happens if you go with the grunur. also.. found a rift with a zroni wisewoman (or prophet or w/e) who was talking about trying to breach the shroud. (i was playing psionic and didnt really have much options in that one if i remember right.)
When I get the astral rift, I didn't even think it was the Baol/Grunur so I went with the blockade. I figured "they want you to think the defenders are the good guys but I bet they're actually the bad guys" until the moment I read "Grunur." Woops. At that point I chose to keep going with Grunur because I figured it was a bad idea to mess with the past, and I knew the fate of the Baol was unchangeable. I got really strong recruitable armies out of it so not too bad I'd say.
@pll3827 from the interaction, there was no direct reason. They were a very militarist society though and talked about how strength is the only value or something like that. Just think of how imperialist powers genocided weaker peoples just because they could. I think that's really all there is to it.
If I were to choose who to assist next or meet next, I would like to meet the past AI empire that lost its server in the present and help them in the defensive war

If you go with the Grunur you murder the Baol population and they gift you "flamer troopers" who become recruitable. Unsure if there is any interaction between Oakenstalk and the Last Baol, but I doubt it

They turned the Baol into the Arachnids from Starship Troopers. The Grunur found that the Baol's defenses were neither random nor light.

Oh, I like the Baol. Whenever I get them, I give them privilege to psionically ascend and be citizens of my empire.
