    Nice little generator. A lot of them make it very difficult to service the carb and near impossible to set the valves. Nice that this one makes both so accessible. Inverter generators are the way to go.

      Putting out a video later toady of LPG converting the off grid Duromax to build a 65+ amp 12 volt DC battery charging system, math says we will get a max of 78 amps, only need the equivalent of 1000 watts solar, so that will charge Lead Acid, Lithium and AGM using low voltage auto start and high voltage engine shut down. Video one is up later, video 2 is when I can afford the rest of the genny parts.

    Spot on. I learned the smaller is better thing from hurricanes. The last significant ones in 2017 (Irma-Maria) knocked our power out for 3 1/2 months (was knocked out for a year by Hugo in '89) and a little 2200 watt Ryobi inverter genny carried the full weight for a couple of them for 12-16 hrs a day. Refrigerator, lights, fans, TV, laptop, and a small submersible pump in the cistern for filling buckets (using a power strip for an on/off switch).
    When the little overworked Ryobi finally crapped a brick we used a much louder and more gas guzzling 3500 watt contractor grade genset until the line crews restored our power. The savings in gas with the smaller genny was very noticeable and I could get by with skipping the gas lines for at least twice as long. Anyway, it's good to see you and the fam makin' vids again. Have a fantastic New Year.

    Nice video and a great year ahead for all of you!
    I work for one of the power companies in the UK and we use gennies all the time!
    It is a temporarystop gap when we have an underground fault to repair to keep individual customers on. We are on 240V so it is a little different too.
    We used to use Honda 2.0i's but after a while they take some starting (trust me after 10 pulls you are cursing them) but would give a couple of KW output ..... not enough for a kettle but OK for Fridge/Freezer TV Internet and Gas Boilers.
    In their wisdom (and us moaning at management to get better) we moved to a new brand ..... but the output for these was a meagre 1800W (often less) and that was not enough!
    We now have a company that will drop off and refuel 6KVA Diesel gennies! These are enough to power 2 houses off one genny ... each on a 32A breaker. Noisey and smelly but a world of difference!
    My point? The best thing for you depends on your individual situation. IF you are after a backup for temporary loss of supply the genny shown here is a great get out of jail card for you. If you are looking at a sustained use power unit for your whole house others may be the way to go!
    Hope All of you find Last year was better than the one before and that this one is better than the last!

      The main thing is having low wattage needs before getting a low output genny. Most todays electrical items are LED, soft start and multi stages so you can do now with 1000 watts what it took 2000 watts just 15 years ago. POWERSMART makes a awesome 2500 that is on my bucket list. I like the fact they jumped off the Honda Clones and went to Yamaha and Lifan Pro II models which are so much better now.

    Thanks for the video, this could be a very handy generator. I'm surprised none of thee little inverter generators incorporates a 12V battery charger. They've already got high voltage DC right onboard (it powers the inverter), to be able to use 30 amps of that at 14V (just 420 watts, less than 1/2 of the generator's capacity) to charge a "12V" battery would be very handy, and not too expensive to provide with a buck converter. Buying a 30A "12V" charger that runs on 120VAC ain't cheap, I'd think a lot of folks would pay a bit more for a handy little generator that could do that, too. Heck, it might even prove handy to get your RV starter battery recharged in a pinch. A source of 12-14VDC is a darn handy thing to have in an emergency.
    Thanks again for the video.

      My solution, a hot battery spare set up. Get the Golo, amzn.to/3yOFXLZ right now its dirt cheap, they were over $200 now, have a March Sale and $40 off, so with a $40 off get it for $120 or less. This Golo can dump enough power to run your furnace for over 4 hours by itself. Or add a Engine battery only 30 watt all in one solar amzn.to/3FDtUVn , or 2 of them to the engine start battery so your never weakening it with your coach battery. Every time you draw it low, you weaken it, shorten its life. And if you do not have them isolated you need to do that.

    It's interesting that that all of the big utube channels on going solar keep saying you need 2 to 3 times the power to run a fridge I'm sure you can run a natural gas furnace with one that size as I keep saying with 2000 watts I can power my house sure I might not be able to run a fridge freezer furnace and water pump all at once but when running the water pump 2 times a day I can shut off other appliances I'm looking at going low budget solar I did like your video on converting an electric lawn mower to run on battery I'm thinking about making my lawn mower my snow blower and my rotor tiller all run on a battery as well as having back up power from the unit I liked your idea because extention cords are such a pain and so constricting but to convert all three with their own power supply could be quite costly so I think I'll try to set up the power supply on a small 2 wheel trailer and then there is the problem that a 2 HP motor to run the rotor tiller would probably be too small to run it and would need a big inverter which would be extremely expensive

So, my question is if I'm only going to be powering tools in the field, with no house connection, should I invest in a ground rod? If yes, I'm thinking a six foot copper rod connected to the genny's ground terminal might suffice. Thanks for any info.

    • @JOHNDANIEL1
      @JOHNDANIEL1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No need for a ground rod on it unless your working in lightning prone areas or in areas like chemical plants or gas plants. But then if you were, they would require a Diesel model.

    • @jonesrick1
      @jonesrick1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JOHNDANIEL1 Thanks for the replay, JD. I just watched a video by Benjamin Sahlstrom who said ground rods do not protect you from ground faults in the field, and that one way to bond your floating neutral generator is to splice the appliance's ground and neutral wires together, which would trip the breaker in the event of a ground fault. I definitely am not going to go that route, but I was wondering: does this apply to inverter gens like the PS 55, or is he possibly referring to to other non-inverter types of generators? I will be using this PS 55 near creek beds on my property, sawing boards and building bridges. Thanks again.

    • @JOHNDANIEL1
      @JOHNDANIEL1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're worried about electrical shock just get you a nice power strip with a easy trip circuit breaker and use it plugged in while you're running things. There's no real point in grounding a generator because it doesn't have dual atmospheric wiring which means in the ground and overhead that adds risk to your electrical system like a utility does. The grounding for a utility system is so that they can bridge the voltage and make multiple phases you're already got that covered in your generator. Just basically setting the generator on the ground covers everything.

After listening to music for half hour on their customer service number, tried a different number another day, finally got a representavie who knew nothing about high altitude kits, said he would have to talk to an engineer. Consider what ever load you plan to run as being 80% of what it will actually need or use, consider any inverter or generator you buy to be 95% of what it can safely do. (1500 watt cooker 1650 watt real) 1500 watt generator or inverter 1420 watt real safe output.
      In your case, you want a 2250 to 2500 watt inverter or generator. Cost is about $35 to 60 more in such a case. As for a 1000 Cold Cranking battery, not without the engine running. They are only 90 AH to 120 Ah in actual capacity. You need 2.5X that at the minimum.

    • @JOHNDANIEL1
      @JOHNDANIEL1  ปีที่แล้ว

      No it is only 11.25 amps output. For most welders you need 30+ amp outlet like this Pulsar amzn.to/3FxF1zd

    • @JOHNDANIEL1
      @JOHNDANIEL1  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anthonystill1590 Wall outlets are 15 and some 20 amp. A common 100 amp MIG like from Harbor Freight uses 12 to 13 amps and will work on a regular outlet but tends to stress them heavily. Check the amp draw under load for the welder, then for every amp it draws consider to find a power source that can handle that plus at least 20% more.

      @@maurice7413 I could afford food when Trump was president and my medicines and electric bill were far less costly. Sadly global warming caused by Joe Biden just froze my frost tolerant Winter garden in December which was never predicted. Joe Biden promised us all there would be no more weather once he assumed control but I was nearly killed in Louisiana by tornadoes and sub zero freezing winds caused by "the excessive heat of global warming" in less than a week.
      And now thanks to Joe "Green Energy" Biden I can`t afford to finish my solar power system for my window air conditioner by next Summer to save enough money to buy meat and medicine. But at least I was able to power my 100 watt electric blanket from solar power when the grid went down. Maybe Joe Biden can send me the extra money soon that he promised to us disabled people before he plunged us even deeper into poverty by raising our food, utilities, transportation, and medical costs?

      Probably not, gas was way to cheap, we wasn't in a proxy war with Russia, millions less were dying and electric bills were 50% less during Trump. He probably got it knowing we would be begging the Saudi's for oil in 2022.
