    Definitely anti drill pins to protect the retaining screw. Thanks for the tip on mrlock

      @@AlbertLebel I don't think they're anti drill pins but are rollers if you have an insurance type or British standard (Normally B.S but i figured you may interpret that as something to do with male cows !) the throw bolt of the lock has them and they stop someone from sawing through the bolt I believe that is the intention here but see dictionary definition of bolt for other kind (i.e retaining , i.e the core ) Also I believe U.K prison bars are hollow square with a solid round bar in the centre for insuring the inmates don't give themselves early parole !

      @@AlbertLebel I am not suggesting or requesting you do so ! But if you wanted to be sure if they are anti saw you could test to see if they are tempered steel (hardened) by seeing if a saw or file bites or skates as you would if you wanted to see if the shackle was really hardened !!!!!

    I agree the lock body is pretty solid. I would add a bypass wafer/shield to the back side if the lock cylinder would take it and security pins. To bad the cylinder/pins are the weakest point. But still a pretty nice looking lock. With a little cylinder pin rework I would recommend this as a solid lock for protecting valuables. Hah that is a rarity for Masterlock. Nice video, nice lock Al. Take care, stay safe.

    I’m pretty sure that the pins are drill protection. For dealing with the crimps I filed a bit of a flat along the length of a follower to clear it and keep a snug fit so the pins don’t try to escape or get hung up.

    • @AlbertLebel
      @AlbertLebel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jim Anderson Correct on the pins 👌
      Great idea on the follower but I would have to get another one. Don’t want to ruin such a nice aluminum one. I can probably get one printed with a flat side. Glad that small one saved the day.

    Yeah Chaz turned me on to an Assa Maximun LFIC and showed me where to find the round padlock body to slide it in. It is definitely one of my favorites even though I haven't picked it yet. I do have a liking for those round bodies myself - kinda shaped like me! The bottom looks like a great design. The pins might be drill protection? "I'm Big Al, and you're not" haha, gave me a good chuckle! Really like the design of that Master, wonder if the pins are just for alignment during assembly? Almost seems too simple, but just a thought. I see the channels cut in the side for the same purpose, so maybe not? Shame about no security pins, but a cool lock overall. Got a few of those big boy round locks myself, including an American 700-series that I still haven’t been able to pick (got two of them and I’m batting 0.500). Be sure to look at the Toledo TBK91R. It’s got some nice features including a spinner and drill protection for the Bible. Did not expect that much machining of the body where the core slid in. Are you sure Master didn’t have someone build that for them?

    Those cast zinc bodied 230s polish up beautifully. It's not made for heavy duty use, more for weather resistance. I like the way they have the core retention set up. Are those long pins for alignment? It kind of looks that way to me, but I could be wrong.

    Are those pins steel? If so, maybe its to guard against a saw attack since the body is soft zinc, kinda like paclock does with their aluminum body locks. Then again its master, so I doubt they would put that much thought into it lol
