- Princess Eugenie Flashes the Smile of a Proud Aunt in First Outing Since Princess Beatrice's Baby News. Princess Eugenie is all smiles after a new addition to the family.
Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter stepped out in London on February 4, marking her first outing since her sister, Princess Beatrice, announced the arrival of her newborn daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi. Eugenie, 34, was dressed down, sporting a long brown coat paired with a black tote bag, as she got into a black car after dining at French-Mediterranean restaurant La Maison Ani. On January 29, the British royal family publicly shared the news of Athena's birth, which occurred a week prior. Baby Athena, who appeared in a new photo wrapped in a pink blanket along with the announcement, arrived several weeks early, as the palace originally shared a due date in the early spring.
"Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12:57 p.m. The baby was born weighing 4 pounds and 5 ounces," the palace statement said on X. "The King and Queen, and other members of the Royal Family have all been informed and are delighted with the news."
"Princess Beatrice and Mr. Mapelli Mozzi would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care," the palace continued. "Her Royal Highness and her daughter are healthy and doing well, and the family are enjoying spending time together with Athena’s older siblings, Wolfie and Sienna." Princess Eugenie was among the first to share her congratulations to her elder sister, 36, following Athena's arrival. Reposting the first photo of the baby girl to her Instagram Stories, Eugenie wrote: "Welcome baby girl!"
Edo, as Princess Beatrice's husband is affectionately known, also shared a social media tribute to his newborn daughter. "Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi," he wrote on social media. "We welcomed Baby Athena into our lives last week. She is tiny and absolutely perfect. We are all (including Wolfie and Sienna) already completely besotted with her. Our hearts are overflowing with love for you, baby Athena."
"A massive thank you from my wife and I goes out to all the wonderful staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their exceptional care and support during this incredibly special time," he added. While Princess Beatrice is a mom to two little girls as well as a stepson, Princess Eugenie is a mom of two boys with husband Jack Brooksbank: August, who will celebrate his fourth birthday on Feb. 9, and Ernest, 1.
In October, Princess Eugenie revealed that she and Princess Beatrice exchange parenting tips "all the time" in an interview with Hello! magazine. "I ring her a lot about meltdowns and what we do and this and that," Eugenie said. When the news of Princess Beatrice's baby on the way broke, her younger sister shared a post on Instagram to celebrate "adding another little one to the gang." "When I was Instagramming that photo, I rang her, and I was like, 'What do you want me to say?' Because I always want to ask, just in case. And she said, 'Can't wait to talk about the trials and tribulations of motherhood.' "
"I posted about our mothering journey because it really is like you become part of a club a mothering club," the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson added. "And when your children are the same age and they're going through the same things, it's just the luckiest thing in the world… and Bea's my big sister, I talk to her about everything."
