Yup. I'm in st. John's as well (technically mt. Pearl, part of the metro area). Approximately 90cm of snow in a night with hurricane force winds. It was quite and adventure last year. It's much more normal so far this year..

Surely not right, I literally have no idea cause it barely snows here, once a year and even when it got bad it wasn’t this much snow.
It sucks loosing power for multiple days, we have been there as well. The big problem for you guys was the frozen pipes in residences, I assume the loss of pressure was the cause of drinking system water failure. When it comes to landscaping, sometimes I wrap my cedars so they wont get damaged by heavy snow but they are getting too big for that now. Must of the flowers I have in my garden are perennials so they grow back from the roots every year.
Geez you people who still had snow blowers were lucky. I’m part of the family that had the avalanche in sunnyside that destroyed the garage and shed. Our snow blower got damaged and we couldn’t use it. Luckily someone cleared our driveway for us but we still had to shovel out the entire garage by hand

It snowed for more than 24 hours. You know how drifted snow is hard, well the whole area was hard like that. You can see me cut huge chunks out of the bank as the snow was way to high for the blower alone.

There was 125cm, ~50 inches of snow on the ground following the storm and it took a couple days for the roads to be opened in my neighborhood. Great video! Question, where I'm from if it snows over 6 inches in a 24hr period the city goes on a 24hr snow removal shift until every street is plowed. About 4 to 7 days depending on the weather. But does your city do something similar?
Nothing too fancy, when it snows they are out plowing the roads. This was an exception because they pulled the plows off the road until the storm ended.

The loader didn't do a great job but they were trying to get roads open as quickly as they could, the storm started Friday morning and it was Sunday evening when they opened my street. They did come back the next day and pull the 12' banks out to the center of the cul de sac, to be removed with blowers later in the week.
@@faithers6 That would be true if there was no insulation, snow would melt. You will then get massive icicles hanging off the eves. That wasn't the case here, winds were very high. No snow on roofs of homes or cars, and the driveway between my house and the neighbours was down to the pavement with a 5 foot drift inches away.

I plowed for a long time and we usually try not to screw the residents like that. There's no reason they couldn't take just a little bit more at the ends of the driveways. I fully understand but a snow like that requires helping just a bit more.

Here in Iowa in August, we had a derecho with 155mph winds...our shingles were just fine, but we lost a bunch of trees and branches
