yes. finally a clear explanation for locating entrance pupil and exit pupil locations via oject/image extended ray. thank you so much. this saved me a lot of headache and wasted time.

    Thank you Scott!
I finally know what is entrance pupil and exit pupil.

Good illustration on stop and pupil. Really like the combination those locations with double gauss lens.

Hands off sir, great explanation. Can you please do a video on the design complete from scratch like design of a microscope or telescope?

Thank you so much, Scott! Can you explain how to set EPD and STO? I am confused about this when I am using Zemax. BTW, your tutorials are awesome!

    hi, scott:
thanks a lot for these tutorial videos, which very detailed and informative!
A quick question, for a blackbox optical system, you have showed how to identify the size and position of entrance/exit pupil. Is there a way to know where the actual optical stop is or size? seems that we have to know where chief ray crosses optical axis...
    looking forward to your insights
    thanks
    Jia

Dear Sir many thanks for the upload, i was trying to go through the problem 1 . entrance pupil is at same location as that of aperture stop , but for finding exit pupil it was bit difficult for me as i can't trace back with the chief ray as it becomes parallel after passing through second lens. I need your help since i am not able to get the solution on your site as well, due to inactive solution link.

Do you have any bibliography , please?

Good tutorial. Can you talk about how to match the exit pupil of one optical system to the entrance pupil of another in order to make them work together.

Good idea! I'll do that in the next video. Next video I was planning on discussing Field stops. which can be a great place to put lenses for pupil matching. Truth be told, the original optics video #12 I had discussed pupil matching by telecentrating, but that is a sub optimal place to pupil match. A better location is at an intermediate image by using a "field lens"
