    3:31 - Bowling lanes are *oiled* most of the way leading up to the pins, but the last few meters at the end *aren't.* Skilled bowlers impart a spin on the ball so that it slides relatively straight down the lane, but then *changes direction* due to friction when it reaches the non-oiled portion just before the pins.

      pippo & co no, the center of it would move up and down constantly so the one way you can make it as a wheel is if you make some sort of axle that can also move up and down, which is super inefficient and complicated, and the reason circles are used for wheels is because there is a center that stays in a consistent y axis so you just need to have a bearing attached for it to be able to rotate. So no, there is no viable way to make them wheelse efficiently since there is no solid center.

    I'm a little disappointed that you didn't go into how the friction at the leading corner controls rolling vs sliding - a non-round object must raise its centre of mass to roll, and the friction at the leading corner must be high enough to /lift/ it out of a sliding configuration for it to roll.
    Furthermore, flat objects don't preserve energy when rolling because a flat face meeting the flat surface imparts little to no torque (since kinetic energy vector intersects the center of mass), whereas a curved surface does impart torque which converts the linear kinetic energy into angular momentum.
    Your profiled squares roll because their profile is designed to provide a smooth conversion between linear kinetic momentum and angular momentum, whereas an object with flat faces will lose much of its momentum to sound and other losses with little ability to retain any of it.

    There's a Japanese toy called Mokuru that has a shape of a cylinder and rolls on its edges, just like objects in this video. It wooden and has rubber edges to avoid slipping. It's now manufactured by Chinese and can be bought for a dollar. Google for "Japanese rolling toy", "Japanese rolling stick". Note: "rolling pin" is a tool for cooking, don't google that.

    4:20 - I don't think that's how a Lego would be able to roll, I see it as the rotational speed overcomes the gravity so the sides don't touch the surface but the corners do so it rolls smoother than usual.... You can see that whenever it doesn't bounce up after a few rotations then picks up speed.

    If the square is flat it's much harder to roll. Those special rolling ones aren't flat. They have extended middles making them roll

    well its simple theory....for a body to roll not slide...
    1. the force applied should be less than friction
    2. when we apply force less than friction the normal force tries to produce torque to balance it...now to roll you have to apply such torque that normal would not be able to balance it...

    I would also like to point out that in vertical rolling squares, vector (from center mass) of gravitational force easily goes outside the base thereby contributing to fall. I mean that if an object is on flat surface, it has foundation which is in contact with this surface. If we draw a vector that, when extended, goes outside of this foundation, then the object is unstable. When rolling square is horizontal, it still has some rotational kinetic energy (mass-moment of inertia*angular velocity squared/2) allows it to overcome the gravity that tends to stabilize it.

    I interpret it in a different perception. The centre of gravity of that object keeps changing and so that point is pulled to the ground and thus it rolls. So those squares had a little bump on their centre, which made the shift of centre of gravity when pushed. So it keeps changing the centre of gravity for each rotation.

    1. When does the sun's magnetic polarity get reversed?
    2. What impact will it have on the Earth?
    3. Recently in 2020, the sun's polarity has been reversed, for the 25th cycle. When was the first cycle occurred?
    4. Approximately when will the 48th (final) cycle occur?
    5. What will happen, when the final 48th cycke occurs?
    6. Whenever the first cycle had occurred, before that had no polarity reversal cycle ever occured on the sun?
    7. Will the sun never ever change its polarity, after the 48th (final) cycle?
    8. If the answer to question 7 is that the polarity will stilll be changed even after that, then why is the 48th cycle considered as the final cycle?
    9. If after the 48th cycle, any new fresh cycle starts, then what will be different in the cycle? Why will be a fresh new cycle and not the 49th cycle?

    This is so easy to understand, it’s using centrifugal force to move around, the shape of the surface let’s it allow it to roll

      Centrifugal force isn't the reason these objects roll. It has to do with angular velocity and friction.

    Theory: the ramped surface can initiate the movement of the square. You see, ramped surfaces can shift the speed of the rolled object. Also, the friction matters. You have to smooth the thing. OK ENOUGH EXPLAINING THIS IS LIKE ONE AND A HALF PARAGRAPHS

    The frictional force during rolling is also going to be proportional to the weight of the object. Think having them being made of aluminum/metal helps with the friction over a similarly smooth surface plastic and hollow item

    there is a huge difference. The center of mass of the square goes up and down while rolling, which causes the square to stop when the rotational energy is less than the potential energy of gravity required. It doesn't happen with a sphere

    It's worth mentioning that as with an oval, the center of gravity goes up and down. Hence exchanging kinetic energy for potential energy and vice versa whilst moving.
