  • In this video, I'm joined by Elle in practicing a mock product data science interview asked by Dropbox about how to improve the logic of the trash folder.
    Here's the question that we're tackling: www.interviewquery.com/questi...

I think Elle did great! Love the new format with feedback in the end.

@Data Science Jay , it be great if you could also bring some Data Science Intern on your platform and share their interview experience , specially with the intern hiring season coming up

Jay's feedback was on point for this interview, and it's actually a great question. A couple of thoughts:
    - I disagree with Jay's point that Elle shouldn't be bringing in new product ideas (an archive folder). I think this behaviour would be a positive signal in an interview for product sense.
    - If I were running this interview, I would have done more to prompt Elle to consider some of the ideas Jay brought up in his feedback. This would vary depending on the level at which Elle was joining the company, but for a junior or entry-level candidate I would definitely have helped out more.
    - One point which wasn't considered by either Elle or Jay was the reputational and customer satisfaction damage that might be incurred by making this change to the way in which Dropbox is storing data. I would see this point as fundamental.
    - Finally, both interviewer (J) and interviewee (L) have names that can be spelled with a single letter... that's pretty cool!

Hi Jay, is it possible to also add a summary below the mock interview in your page? More from a solution perspective :)

I’ve been a data scientist for about 5 years now and worked at 3 different companies in my career so far. If I don’t want to move up to senior data scientist what are some other options outside of data science I could get into at this point in my career?

Most of the points don't make much sense.
