i played this song with a coworker of mine in the background while we were working, he's very similar to me and is introverted but at the same time we both can talk for hours about subjects with people once that comfort is there, long story short I'm playing a radio on spotify this song comes on and he starts just dancing out of nowhere, I think I was surprised just because I never saw that side of him before yet a song like this got him to a level where he felt like naturally getting into the vibe. Everytime I hear this song I think of that moment, most of the time that's how it is for songs, I remember certain moments of when I've heard it and it takes me back to my past
I saw COIN at Summerfest last year, right after they dropped Crash My Car. I’ll always remember that day; my school’s robotics team was doing a demo event with some other teams from the area, and my mom was volunteering with me. We got in and set up before they even opened the fest grounds, we heard sound checks from one of the stages across from us. I actually got interviewed by a local news channel with one of my friends. After the robotics event, it started raining, then it turned into an all-out downpour, then thunderstorms. It got so bad that artists had to get off-stage and every screen on the grounds was displaying a thunderstorm warning and how to avoid getting struck. Thankfully, I remembered I picked up an umbrella that one of the robot drive team members was using as a sun shade for the laptop controlling the robot. I intended to give it to her, but it came in handy right now. Unfortunately, it was a one person umbrella. And my mom and I had to get under it. So there we were, in the middle of the Summerfest grounds, under a tree with practically no leaves on it (every other building, bar, and overhang was filled to the brim with people), two people squeezed under a little one-person collapsible umbrella. After 2 hours that felt like an eternity, the storm subsided. We were soaked anyhow. Another 2 hours and it was almost COIN’s set; my mom and I figured we’d get there early and get seats. Well, kinda. We didn’t venture into the crowd; it was filled with twentysomethings that, honestly, looked like stereotypical indie rock fans. Way outta both my teenager-geek-and-or-punk and my mom’s slightly-begrudging-but-accepting-parent vibes. We did get a picnic table, though. We sat down, my mom pulled a battery bank out and we started charging our phones (we’d been at the festival grounds for about 7 hours now), ate some ice cream, defended the table from vulture-like festival goers, and waited for the show. A local band called Newvices came out on stage, and I was ecstatic to hear an indie rock band hailing from right here in Milwaukee. Check em out sometime, they’re similar to COIN but a bit more guitar driven. Anyway, COIN came out on stage, and the few songs that I didn’t recognize immediately, I loved. Hilariously, my mom said she’d only heard Talk Too Much, but she liked their other songs she was hearing for the first time. Laughing at the sunburns and mosquito bites on the back of our legs (seriously, how does the back of your leg get sunburnt?!), my mom and I walked around a little bit before heading to see CHVRCHES’ set. I bought a kinda-too-large CHVRCHES tour T-shirt from the guy manning the merch booth (I remember he had a great beard and an even greater accent) and finally changed out of my soaking wet robotics team logo T-shirt; I noticed Milwaukee was the last US tour date for the Love Is Dead tour for a few months, and got pretty excited. They’d cranked up the bass a ton to drown out the sound of the neighboring stage, so much so that I could feel it pounding in my chest. Even so, it was an amazing concert, but we only stayed like halfway through to avoid the rush of people leaving. On the drive home, my mom and I talked about how awesome the concerts were, how eerie it was driving around the empty streets of Milwaukee at night, listening to our local alt radio station, and commiserating about how tired we were (we’d been at Summerfest for a bit over 12 hours). All the way home, I fidgeted with a guitar pick I’d gotten strung on a necklace from a local vendor stall selling all sorts of jewelry made up of things like the round metal bits on guitar strings that hold them on the bridge end. A white tortoiseshell-looking plastic with the Summerfest logo on one side, and ‘2019’ stamped and filled in with something red and shiny on the other, I think it’s foil of some sort. The stamping left it slightly curved, almost like it was specially made for my thumb. I have that necklace hanging on some hooks on the outside of my closet door now, near my backpack, coat, a hoodie, and other various things that should be hung up. Every now and then, I slip the necklace on, either above my head or wrapping it three times around my wrist, and reminisce. It reminds me of a time before quarantine, cancelled tours, and social distancing, when thousands of people could pack into a festival grounds to see their favorite bands and not worry about catching or spreading a highly infectious disease. Once we make it through all this, one of the first things I will do is go to a concert and fully embrace and love everything, even the crowds, lines, mosquito bites, and peeling sunburns.

I'm in love with their album dreamland a lot more than any other releases this year besides CALM by 5SOS. I really love the good vibe of their music and I played it to my house and danced all around my room with my sister. I hope they would go here in the Philippines.
