I adore Gene Tierney, and Vincent Price is good as well. Both are so underrated in Classic American films, what a shame. Thanks for sharing this here.I want to watch this entire movie now.
I think Vincent and Gene worked well together in all the movies they appeared in together. Why is it a competition? They were friend thier whole life and held each other in high regard.
I finally found it, after looking for it for a long time. A friend had taped it off the movie channels, so it IS available. There is a beautiful waltz in it, that was used in several other movies and the TV version of the Ghost and Mrs. Muir. The soundtrack is also very cool.
Great clip, Ernst Lubitsch took ill during production. Joseph L. Mankiewicz was hired to direct, it was his first film. He would later direct Gene Tierney in The Ghost and Mrs Muir. The Letter and All about Eve.
Though I agree, you would not think so having watched Gene as Ellen Barent in the movie ''Leave Her To Heaven'' beautiful but deadly, a must see movie.....
@Tsunade11 @Tsunade11 vincent also said gene was so beautiful in person one could understand why his characters always went mad for her. and her acting IS good, maybe not as strong in this movie, but in others, she's terrific.

It's just that it seemed odd to me that she chose this film as her least favorite of her work, after watching the movie I realized most likely the reason for that is because Vincent shines in this film and he did take a lot of attention away from her. Still its nice to see they were friends in real life!
I saw this film for the first time yesterday - there was notihng good on, so I randomly pressed numbers and it ended up on this. I don't think I've ever watched a black and white film before - except a musical we were forced to watch at school. However I really loved Dragonwyck and Gene Tierney and Vincent Price are amazing! The attempt at an Irish accent was a little annoying tho haha But yeah, the film is brilliant, is it availible online anywhere?
Oh I love this scene! One of the best scenes in the movie. Both actors did a brilliant job. Thanks for posting! :)
Vincent Price + madness + ghostly singing = Great Creepy Movie.

no one could have written a better portrait of her!!
thank you for posting! this is one of my favorite films! I am so wary that someone will remake it!
I love her.... IMO she looks and sounds like the perfect Cinderella
This movie and other classic movie can be found at tcm.com
Nice one Lance, I could not agree more.....
The reason she stated it was not one of her favorites is she did not feel it was one of her better perfomances. It was no reflection on Vincents work.
