Im not gonna lie, i thought he was gay or either bi before realizing there was a book with him marrying Cinderella ( i read it and i hated it because the dude married a rich girl not a poor girl who pretending to be poor because she did not have the confidence to stand up for herself ) he should have been with someone like his older brother. Someone equal not someone to save. He is not prince charming, he is a womanizer. So, a woman at the same level of confidence was his right cup of tea for me.
To be fair here, the girl didn't pretend she was poor because she didn't have confidence. She literally didn't know that her father had left her anything. And her abusers wouldn't have given her what she was entitled to. He was very condescending at times, but i dont think they weren't equals to one another. Also he would have married her even if she were poor. She would also push back at times, like when she slapped him. But i do have to agree with you. While i enjoyed parts of the book, it was a bit too much white knighting for my taste at times. I do still like it, but its not perfect.
