R22 RUUD AC UNIT NOT COOLING DOWN HOME merch = teespring.com/... / stevenlavimoniere lavimoniere productions llc subscribe to my channel / @stevenlavimoniere lavimoniereplum...
These are good units. Ours is from 1996 and other than just maintenance it’s never had anything done to it. Keeps the house at 75 on a 100 degree day no problem.
I like that small, rectangular magnetic screw holder. It would fit in my bag much better than the round ones. They have large rectangular ones at HF but I’ve never seen a small one like that.
Some one could have pulled off all those wires I’d still know what goes where. Hey question, run cap, where does it go on the compressor to Run? or to start?
Yeah, they are good units. Mines old is the hills and it’s just starting to go out now. She gets a little icy on really hot humid days. Those days I just leave the fan on the furnace continuously. Looking to find one that matches the quality of that one.
Never put your gauges on a unit unless you absolutely have to. 40 years of that crap. Thank God I’m done, I won’t even jump into my own attic. And I was a Rheem dealer. Ruud something. I was able to get anything, Trane, Lennox, Carrier, keep them all get a Rheem.
A Rheem/ Ruud unit properly installed and properly charged will run for ever. A capacitor is a very simple fix. And size is the most important thing and bigger ( more BTU) is not better. Capacitors just go. They heat up and pop. What size unit I’ll tell you the capacitor from here. Plus or minus 10% on a capacitor, you can use a 440 vac on a 370 but not the other way.
Another reason for the manufacturers to put a decal by the capacitor with factory specs, and/or the last tech to replace the cap write the spec with a Sharpie 🤷♂️
Legally it must be recovered and recycled. You can only transfer it to another R22 unit owned by the same person. You cannot transfer ownership of used R22, even for free.

Dogs are the best
Cut open the capacitor so we can see the insides.
Would it help if you put a dab of dielectric grease con there
I can't believe Molly doesn't jump

your probley low on charge
She needs a little how you doing mama
Those installers sure like jamming those condensers up close to the houses.
Hit the reset button on a Ruud, that's all it takes sometimes
Another Earwig made a guest appearance at around 5:24
Easy peasy Steve

Steve
Is there anything that you don't carry in your truck?
I like the noises he makes just by teying to remove a terminal connector lol
ITS THE NOISE YOU MAKE WHEN YOU TRY TO SELL GIRL SCOUT COOKIES

Howdy Steve and Molly
Look at that crusty contactor relay. Nothing but quality 👌

Original Aerovox cap. They must be pretty good to last that long.
"it's not rocket science"
Steve, when you evacuate R22 systems , can you filter and re use that freon given that it's so expensive

You're probably regretting just not cutting that terminal off!
NO REGRETS YOU ONLY LIFE ONCE
Love the video... Thank you
Nice fix.
Nobody sizes the return properly. I had to double mine
having condensers in that tight space isn't ideal is it
