Damn, you missed Vic House! I was there in 2015 in my 1st year at Vic, it was the best year of my life! I made tonnes of friends, great building, great services, movie rooms, so close to Kelburn campus, and of course, lots of partying haha. I'd recommend Vic House to anyone that wants a social party vibe, but also has study focus times and is super close to campus. :)
I will be moving to NZ for my Master next year and is trying to choose my accommodation. Can I ask from question about Vic hall? From the Uni site, we have catered option ( is it good or we rather cook ourselves) Is there a toilet/bathroom for each room is the communal type For now this is all I want to ask. Thanks in advance :))))
Awww thank you!! I am glad its helpful! Please let me know if you would like to see any other uni content in the future - its awesome making videos people want to see! x
What, dinner from 5:30 to 7!?! I’m from Uruguay and in 2023 I plan to go and study in nz (idk what or which uni) but here in Uruguay, dinner is around 8 onwards haha.
Your videos are so helpful, I’m struggling to choose between unis!! did you meet cool people n make friends quickly? what is the social scene like in welly? Xx
Heyya!!! I’ll be talking more about this in my video coming out next week. But thanks so much I’m glad they are helping you. I feel like welly is great, there’s millions of different types of people and a LOT of students/student aged people to meet :)
Hi hi!! Would always suggest choosing and then filling in ur top 3 suggestions. Just gives the uni a better idea of what u like!! Otherwise if u don’t get ur first choice it’s completely random as u didn’t suggest any other options for them to consider!! :)
Sorry this is so late. I have a question for harry, what is it like studying media studies at victora ? As that is what I want to do. Like what do you learn etc.
Hi hi!! I’m so sorry this was filmed so long ago I can’t add extra answers or get back in touch with everyone I had involved. Thanks for the comment though and I hope u got ur answers!
Heyya thanks so much. Sorry for the late reply. But it really varies by year. But I think the top 3 are usually known as the most social etc. In my year the top/most popular 3 were: Cap, Te Puni and KJ. It really is what you make of it though and totally depends on who is in your hall, what your floor is like etc. Hopefully this helps.
I'm so sorry I don't have a good response to this. I left uni after my year in halls so can't remember much about Victoria House and don't have anyone to ask about it. Sorry!
Hi I think there is 3 main campuses. One for law (pipitea) One for design (in the city centre) And most other subjects (up at kelburn) There’s probably more detail on the Victoria uni website to help with this!
Amazing, can I ask about other places like Education House, Everton Hall and Kelburn Flats. I dont have quite information about those place :( hope for your help
I'm openly queer and have heard some horror stories about some hall's reputations around LGBT people - do you know anywhere I can get advice abt that sort of stuff?
We just toured lots of the halls yesterday. Joan Stevens had an RA studying gender roles etc. who put out a gay vibe. I suspect Te Puni is so big heaps of minority groups will have peers groups. Email or visit the halls that sound most likely to be supportive.
Last comment: I just searched ‘Victoria Uni clubs’ and the inventory that came up included Uniq - club for gay/gender diverse. The link lead to site where they have a contact email, discord server etc. to support students. That could give you the low down from current students.
I'm at Weir house and we have an RA openly a part of the community, and a lot of residences are open and express their sexuality. A large majority of the whole is queer (we got a whole page in the uni magazine about how queer weir is). From my experience we're is very queer safe, although keep in mind that this is obviously going to vary from year to year. But the environment in the past has been known to be incredibly welcoming
So sorry I didn't see this comment at the time but I hope that everyone who responded helped you to get a sense of where to seek out advice!! Absolutely love everyones replies!! :)
Heyya they are all similar. But there are definitely ones that are slightly smaller or larger and slightly different sizes and layouts. It's a bit of a lucky dip on what type you get!
Hi Rebecca , my daughter is ver introverted person and she wants to study to be a biomedical researcher. Which hall is the best to meet people with the same interests?
Hi Rebecca, I will be joining the university for studying bachelors in commerce from the first trimester 2021. Do you have any tips for me as i am not in New Zealand and will be studying from my home country?
Love the absolute lads listing maccas and liquor stores as essentials
Too good aye!

- Year 12 Nzer
So glad it helped!!
Thank you, this has been helpful!
A couple of quick questions: are postgraduates allowed in all the halls? And are vegetarian meals available?
All halls offer vegetarian options but you might be able to put it down as a dietary requirement request if you want to be sure

How about Victoria House??
Does it feel a bit cheaper?
I'm so sorry I don't have a good response to this. I left uni after my year in halls so can't remember much about Victoria House and don't have anyone to ask about it. Sorry!
I’m going to weir house and most of their answers were left out 😭
Sorry!! I tried to include as many as possible.
Are different classes held in different campuses? E.g engineering held in a different campus too history

What’s your opinion on vic house?
Incredibly late reply. I didn't know anyone there so didn't really have an opinion.
This is so helpful thanks sm!

So sorry I didn't see this comment at the time!! I hope she found a great hall!
Do halls have car parking options available?
