I expected to want nothing new from Taurus in 2023. But I soooo want this gun. The trigger, the brass sight, the grips... Gonna have to sell my stainless public defender and upgrade.

I like the python roper style grips they use on the executives. Ropers are absurdly good.

Federal 410 Hangun loaded with 000 buck is legitimately a great carry option. It can be hard to find, but accept NO SUBSTITUTE! Critical defense 410 (the one with the slug and the 2 balls) sucks and PDX1(the one with the disks and small BBs) sucks. Gel test that shit and you'll see.
I will preface this by saying that my first carry gun was a Taurus Model 85. It worked flawlessly. Trigger was heavy and not super smooth. But recoil was managed pretty well by the rubber grips it came with. Matte silver finish was aesthetically pleasing. But I was not impressed with the 856 Executive Grade I held recently. And the 605 Polymer Protector wasn't feeling. And I'm really not sold on this, either, because why would I want an "Executive Grade" .410 revolver; the Public Defender version of the Judge made more sense. At this point, I wish Taurus would just focus on quality control and improving trigger pull on their J-frames. That will sell the product better than an "Executive Grade" line. Just make all the guns slightly better and slightly more expensive. At this point, unless we are talking Taurus Tracker .17 HMR or Raging Hunter .454 Casull or something else unique, I'm going to go with a Smith & Wesson, Ruger, or Charter Arms. Indeed, I'm quite impressed with Charter Arms for J-frame sized revolvers. Mainly because Smiths seem to not come with the shroud for the ejector rods as much these days, which may be a cost cutting measure, but for a defensive firearm I want that protective shroud (and Taurus and Charter Arms provide them).
I'd seriously consider getting this. Looks very nice and the 9lbs trigger sounds great. Do you know if they ever improved the trigger on their flagship Raging Hunter series? I bought a .44magnum Raging Hunter a year ago and loved it except it had the most horrible double-action trigger I've ever had the misfortune of pulling. I'd consider getting their new .460 hunter if they actually made the trigger somewhat decent.
How does the muzzle velocity of a revolver with significant “free bore” compare to one with more traditional distance between the projectile and the forcing cone?
Tell them to make a 45lc 45acp dual cylinder tracker like the 992 and 692, both of which I own.
Will there be an Executive Grade magnum version of the Judge or an optics ready version in the future?
An optic ready Judge would be sweet

NO, THE .410 SLUGS ARE ALL RIFLED SLUGS, AND THE JUDGE HAS A RIFLED BARREL. THE ONLY SABOT SLUG .410 IS THE ONE IN THE HORNADAY CRITICAL DEFENSE, WHICH HE SHOT IN THE VIDEO.
But there are some things exceptional and “divinely” crafted and inspired (by men who believed in themselves as mere mortals) that have etched itself and filled a role in history:

Is Taurus coming out with raging judge executive grade with 3 inch barrel?
their exist full brass shells that would fill that jump / benefits streither shooting, you know what goes in each round, the judge is a loader/ reloader pistol . finer powders deliver hotter loads with the same amount of powder the judge would make a grate test bed. plus 410 slugs would be good. the judge has unrelised potential out of the box.
the great part of the judge is now there are inserts to shoot many different calibers all with the same gun
I’m glad it’s capable of shooting accurately now. I’m onboard with loving 45colt. The free bore isn’t what loses my interest. I want this, but without the extra length of cylinder and frame. I’d take a 45 Colt that was easier to carry.
They used to make the 450, which I own in a snubby with an aluminum frame. It, like the Smith and Wesson 44spl L frame, did not sell well. They just had better options.
I am two minutes in, along with 8 beers, I hope by the end of this I buy one tonight.

I'm a revolver guy, own Smiths Rugers Colts Taurus Astra you name it, my Taurus model 65 revolvers are just as accurate and reliable as any wheel gun I own.

I guess with the Judge I struggle to understand the concept. Obviously it is a compromise: it is not as good as a 45 Colt revolver and, face it, not as good as a shotgun. So, why would I buy it? I can see only one scenario: only if this is a single gun which I am going to have... Now, is it as good self defense weapon as a plastic gun? No. It is heavy, doesn't carry as many rounds, has a heavier trigger. Now, if I am to buy one and only one gun, in 95% of cases I am buying gun for self or home defence. So I will buy a plastic gun then. Who buys the Judge then? I will never buy it since I have better performing 45 Colt and shotgun. I do not need to combine the two in one single platform.

You could just buy a regular 856 with a normal hammer and switch the hammers on them. ;)
I'm guessing it's only rated for standard pressure 45 colt. This video makes me want one. Your new goal is to get taurus to make a 45 colt exclusive revolver.

Looks good. I bought a Judge recently. Wish I didn't wait so long. It's a fun gun to shoot. Just wish ammo was cheaper.
I bought moon clips that will allow me to shoot 45acp in my Judge. Haven't tried them yet. Hope it works.

I bought a Henry 410 a few years ago a d prior to convid, I was buying federal target 420 for $7 at Walmart. Couple boxes every paycheck until I had 800 rounds. I don't want to shoot them, now. Lol
@@richdoherty64 be careful, the judge isnt rated for the pressure 45acp runs at. i reload 45lc and 45acp, i make light 45acp loads for my judge but would never, ever fire full power factory ammo out of it...
I have a Judge but I wish Taurus would make an actual straight up just 45 Colt revolver (again). Bring back the 450 and modernize it

45 ACP is pointless out of this gun because it won't hit to the sights if you also want to shoot 45 Colt. You have to pick one or the other

@@MrRevolver at 10:44 you mention "most of my other guns I do a spring swap on". I was assuming you had another judge you swapped springs in. I have an older shiny blued 3" magnum and a brushed stainless 3" magnum. The stainless guns trigger is crap, like an old Saturday night special, however, the blued gun is just as smooth as any Ruger, S&W, Colt, etc, if not better. The stainless is just terrible...
BTW, I love those grips!!!! Where can I buy a set? Both my guns have the Hogue grips which I absolutely love but they aren't very pretty...

A screw vibrated loose which is a common issue in guns with yoke screws
It was made of multiple parts and those multiple parts fell apart. Sure, it was a screw and that actually happens with any gun that has screws, BUT, it technically fell apart. Lol

@@MrRevolver Was that holster part of the enigma express or did you buy a separate holster to make it work with the Enigma? If so, I'd be interested to know which holster.
Also, it seems the Lehigh Maximum Expansion bullets and the Federal 000 Handgun shells do quite well with the Judge platform based off the testing ShootingTheBull410 did a while back.
Lastly, I know you have been critical of Taurus in the past compared to the other big players in revolvers. I am seriously considering a Judge but have the QC and overall quality/reliability of parts improved since you made that statement?

First off nobody wants a 45 colt revolver that’s not cowboy action the 410 is why u buy this gun .45 colt ammo is a ripoff and the 410 ammo for this judge is still overpriced and hard to find but I still want one
I have a 45 colt redhawk and a Taurus 450 snubby. I reload 45 for the price of factory 9mm. You can hunt anything in north America effectively, even if illegally with 45 colt.
If the gun is made to shoot well, 45 is VERY good and can and should be hand loaded.
Anyone who believes this is an unbiased and truly objective review, I have a bridge to sell you. Taurus makes some of the worst handguns on the market and their revolvers have had a multitude of serious issues, hell I’d tell you they’re fantastic if they signed my paychecks as well 😂.
Hey real quick name an issue with current Taurus revolvers
I read a lot of Taurus bashing on the Internet. Maybe because of that I do not have a Taurus semi auto... However, I have two Taurus revolvers: 3" 692 and a Raging Hunter. I never had any problems with them: shoot great, not the best trigger in the world, but this was not expected from them. So, I really am not sure where this bashing is coming from: old problems which were addressed or a competition war.
Taurus doesn't pay me and I don't get any benefits from stating this opinion.
