Air France Flight 447 was a scheduled international passenger flight from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to Paris, France, that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean on June 1, 2009. The Airbus A330-203 aircraft operating the flight encountered a series of technical failures and human errors, leading to the accident and the loss of all 228 passengers and crew on board.The flight encountered severe weather conditions, including the presence of thunderstorms, as it flew over the Atlantic. The aircraft's pitot tubes, which are responsible for measuring airspeed, became blocked with ice crystals. This caused the autopilot to disengage, and the pilots lost crucial airspeed data. In response to the situation, the pilots made incorrect control inputs and failed to recover the aircraft.
The investigation into the crash revealed several contributing factors. The pilots' inadequate response to the loss of airspeed information, known as a "stall," and their failure to follow proper procedures were identified as key factors. Additionally, the lack of awareness and training regarding high-altitude manual flight operations and stall recovery contributed to the accident.
