      Judging by other people's reviews, the weight is far off. It weighs around 34lbs.
      Frame is good, got some okay parts, but for $1300, should have a better crank and fork.
      A square taper crank at over a thousand dollars is not good. And the fork is much too heavy and with poor adjustment for people of different weights or riding expectations.
      Brakes, shorter stem and dropper post are not huge expenses and can be personal upgrades according to taste, but the core items- frame, fork and crank, which usually are big expenses and difficult to change, should be upgradable and of good quality.

    @mtbboy1993 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Here is what I think of it:
    I think of most of the parts there as placeholders, frame looks nice, geo is good.
    Frame:
    brake mount could be better, routing could be better.
    would be nice with more sizes, as with many brands I am above the size range. Max is XL, but I would need XXL.
    65 Deg head angle is nice. could have shorter stem. But in my opinion a even slacker head angle would be nice combined with short stem for direct steering. But I am used to 62.5 and love it. But most brands won't do that slack. Ragley does 63deg so pretty close.
    Components:
    Microshift Advent X: ratchet clutch with a lot of play.
    Fork, no proper adjustment, plastic caps, so not for hard riding, not safe, springs could shoot the rider.
    Cranks with spider being a part of the crank arm is a NO for me. If you snap the spider you need a new crank.
    Mechanically actuated hydraulic brakes is a bad idea, I prefer fully hydraulic. But if going for mechanical go for nice ones. not mixture of both.
    For the price an air fork would be nice, I am not against coil forks they have their advantages, and are simple, but this fork is not nice, it needs metal caps and a damper.
    780mm handlebar would be too narrow for some, definitely for me, but I need one size larger frame size than the max size.
    Wheels: no info on thee wheels.

    • @chickensendies
      @chickensendies  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me it is not the build in the entirety.... It is the asking price for the components.... It is just priced to high for what it is.

    • @mtbboy1993
      @mtbboy1993 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chickensendies Definitely not a great deal, also no info on the hubs, so don't know if the engagement is decent, that's a common compromise even on bikes that cost twice or trise of this one. So I don't know if hubs would need to be swapped, and don't know which rims it uses, nor spokes, nor nipples. I would not want wheels with horrible engagement and weak spokes, and nipples, round off, snap, crack, corrode. I don't know what's the best, but I know Sapim spokes, and Sapim brass nipples, are superb. they can handle a hammering from rocks, a lot of truing, for years and still not fail. Not impressed with DT Swiss brass nipples, they round off a bit, only been few months of use. and a bit of truing. But the Alu nipples corroded, cracked in few months, but it was second hand wheel, but I saw some of the nipples were messed up rounded off, but few months with me and the nipples had to be changed.
      So I tried the DT Swiss as they were the only nipples I could get my hands on in Norway at the time, and wanted to try them, but I am not impressed.
      There are different types of brass, DT Swiss seems to use a bad type.
      I had Sapim spokes and nipples on the Hope Enduro 29 wheels.
      I have DT Swiss wheels now, but I might try the Sapim spokes on eventually. I heard their Alu nipples are great too, but not tried them.
      But Sapim Brass Nipples are a solid choice.

  • @cjohnson3836
    @cjohnson3836 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have zero evidence to back this up, just what I've gathered from some LBS owners, and some seeing of how Japanese companies can operate from when I lived there. Shimano, esp over Covid time, has been prioritizing those companies that it has established relationships with and those that created a predictable business stream. Poseidon has no history with them. And the big brands are likely buying up all their supply.
    The fork is the biggest let down in my opinion. Advent X is fine, I have it on my bikepacking bike. Brakes, see above. But a fork is a hard and costly upgrade, esp for a budget shopper. What's the likely resale of this XCM en-route to an upgrade? Guessing not much. And for the price, shouldn't be an issue to begin with. And, for that matter, Poseidon gravel bikes are flooding the used market and don't seem to have any resale value. So, the bike itself is a hit against a future upgrade.
    Stoic 2 was just recently on sale under $1k. Canyon deals aren't infrequent. I'd just save money until one comes up. Or check in on the outlet. One right now in small for $1099

    • @chickensendies
